One of the top ten problems in the US is illigal immigration and so far we haven't really prevented it. So what solution might you be able to come up with for this problem.

In my own oppinion, I would have three steps to stop illegal immigration.
1. Find companies who hire illegal immigrants and give them a date to have them fired by then or be heavily fined.
2. If illigal immigrants do not leave accordingly from the country, give heavy fines to them in order for them to be legal.
3. (My favorite step) allow them to become legal if they serve a specified amount of time for the US army and I am sure they would gladly take up that offer. Once they are legal citizens, they wouldn't have to apply to jobs for low pay, thus ending the illigal immigrant hiring completely.

By my 3rd plan, i did not mean by force. I meant they had the choice to if they really did want to live in the US or they would go by my 2nd plan to live here.

Enforce the existing laws and make being illegally in the USA a lifetime bar to re-entry.
And stop all the talk about amnesty as that is what is attracting them!

First, I would bring home the troops we currently have stationed in Germany and deploy them on the Mexican border. They already have the training and the equipment.
Then I would find out the immigration status of all convicts currently serving time in American prisons and deport them back to their home countries.
Last, give businesses 60 days to determine the immigration status of their employees. If any are still employing illegals after 60 days, fine them and throw their top management in jail for 6 months. If the criminals don't have a job, they have no reason to stay here.

Fine the employers. Fine them HARD. I mean, when either the owner or the board of directors gets the fine from the government, they should literally vomit. If you hit just a few companies hard, and I mean HARD, that would end the problem. Take meat packers. If you hit Tyson hard, fine them the max for each and every illegal worker, oh, and it is against the law to use illegals means to gain a profit, so you fine them the profits for the period of time they had those illegal workers, it would put them out of business. Then you go after another company. Then another.
After only maybe 4 or 5 companies basically get put out of business because of hiring illegal workers, other companies will get the message. Call a 90 day amnesty period. All companies have 90 days to shore up their employment rosters. Then, hit the biggest offenders hard, yet again.
No demand for illegal workers, no illegal immigration problem. And take it to the farmers, too. Got a farmer who hires day laborers to pick their crops? Hey, hit them too. Let all employers know that there is no one exempt.
And don't say that it is anti-immigrant. That's crap. If anything, it will increase LEGAL immigration. Why? If there is in fact a shortage of labor in this country, then more people who want to come here will be forced to, get this, apply for a visa!!
I am not against immigration. I think my family has only been in this country for about 4 generations now. Know what that means? I understand that 5 generations ago, my family wasn't HERE!! WE HAD TO IMMIGRATE!!
I have worked with some very hard working immigrants. I really became against illegals when I was in the Air Force stationed in Korea. I went up to Seoul for Passover. Jews from all of the branches came up to Seoul for Passover. I met a soldier whose family was kicked out of Russia in the early 1980s for being Jews. That's it. They lived all over Europe on an EU passport. No country would let them live in any one place very long. After 7 years, they finally were able to immigrate to America.
I will back off being so anti-illegal immigration if you can explain to me why someone believes they have no economic opportunity in their home country cannot wait like a family who has NO opportunity in their home country because they HAVE no home country can wait 7 years to make a better life for themselves.

I think number 2 and number 3 of your points were fantastic!
If congress passes its amnesty for the illegals they would be paying alot to be here. And even more for becoming US citizens...I, even being PRO-immigration is for that idea.
I dont agree that they should have to serve in the Armed forces tho. They should have to register with selective services like everyone else. (male anyway) Our armed forces are voluntary and we cant make them a requirement on anyone.

Deport all of them.
Seize their property.
Rewrite the law so that it clearly states that a U.S. citizen is a naturalized citizen or a child born to a U.S. citizen or a naturalized citizen.
Make the laws retroactive to 1957.
If the parent is illegal, the child is illegal. If the parent is on a tourist visa, student visa or any other visa, their child is not a U.S. citizen but a citizen of their parent's country of origin.
Give them 3 months to leave the country. After they leave, they must wait 2 years to apply for legal entry to the U.S.
After the 3 months, do massive raids and deport them. Most illegals cluster in communities with others of their own kind so do a massive sweep and deport all. Put them on planes and drop them off in a remote area in the middle of their country. (There might be a few REAL Americans that get swept up but it you want to fix a problem that has gotten out of hand you have to take drastic steps.)
There is an easy way to track illegals that have Social Security cards, whether it was through fake documents or through amnesty. A SS card lists, in code, city/country of origin and birth date. If the birth date and city/country of origin doesn't match then it is fake. Anyone given amnesty in 1986 was illegal and there would be documentation on these people so it would be easy to track them and deport them.
Require all hospitals to refuse hospital care for patients without insurance unless they have valid IDs that prove they are American. Require all parents to supply proof of American citizenship before issuing birth certificates.
The current interpretation of the law that anyone born in the U.S. is a U.S. citizen is wrong.
The law was not written to give rights to those that violated the law.
Read the law and see that even children born to American citizens are not American citizens. If children born to American citizens are not automatically American citizens then how in the world can children born to illegals be classified as American citizens.
It all politics. Created by those that want illegals in this country to increase their constituency.

I am an American. last state i resided in was Texas,
personally, if i could, Build a wall between Mexico and the bordering states, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Make it about thirty feet high and at least fifteen feet wide, then place the military on it on rotating shifts.
i would also put the navy along the shores to help out the coast guard.
i would say any one trying to run across with out proper papers is a tarriest, and will be dealt with accordingly.
that is of course, if i could. But i gave up on that idea and moved to Peru, South America. there isn´t much difference here than in Texas. Same language,(Spanish), same attitude,(hating the north Americans) I tell my wife, who is Peruvian, that i feel right at home. and she looks at me funny.

Cut the free healthcare, foodstamps and everything else that is given to them.
Close the borders to all immigration, until the problems here are solved.
Find the companies that hire them and fine them heavily
The ones that are here illegally need to be sent back, with no re-entry because they broke the laws of this country. Make them pay back this country for all that they took.

A MAJOR reason we have illegal immigration is the lack of legal alternatives. For people without an immediate family member who is a US citizen, or the credentials (usually a phD or Masters in some high tech fields) for a US employer willing to sponsor them, they have no way of working here legally. We need to create a guest worker program, so people can come here legally, work and pay taxes on their earnings, and return to their country. They'll fill the need for labor, contribute to society through their income and any other applicable taxes.

i think we have to make hiring illegal immigrants not look appealing to employers. the best way to do this is to fine companies heavily. also arrest the companies' bosses and put them in jail a few years.
basically make hiring them look very unfavorable
