I dont want to spend a alot on the bridesmaids bouquets since they will not be kept anyway and am trying to keep the costs within reason. This will be a fall (October) wedding.

Many flowers are very difficult b/c they aren't in bloom in October. Tulips especially. Brides like tulips and they have to be flown in from Holland--thats gonna be more expensive. All roses is going to be more expensive than greenery.

Ochids are very expensive. More difficult flowers to grow--or flowers that wilt easily--lillies. I especially wanted stargazer lillies in my bouquet until I got a price.

Anything that isn't in season--or locally kept in their greenhouse is going to be pricier.

Less expensive will be a bouquet with a lot of filler, greenery (ferns, grasses), baby's breath. If you live in the south and by fall you are right at the beginning of fall (October 1), many of the summer flowers will still be in bloom. Further north, this will be after the frost so not as many. Greenhouses always keep roses and carnations in stock.
Here is a list of flowers that are in bloom in fall

Fall Wedding Flowers

Aster * White, Pink
Chrysanthemum * White, Yellow, Orange, Pink, other colors
Dahlia * Many Colors
Marigold * Yellow, Orange, Red
Statice * Purple
Zinnia * Red, orange, pink *

When you pick a bouquet that you really like, talk to your florist about some subsitutions you can make to lower the price. He'll know how to keep the general appearance of the bouquet you like while staying in your budget.

roses aren't too bad, kinda middle of the road. use lots of things like daisies and greenery, maybe some mini-carnations (I think the mini one are cute, not so wild about the big ones) alstromeria is nice too. Avoid things like calla lillies, they are around $10 per stem, not worth it in my opinion. Hydrangeas are also expensive, but they are really big and take up a lot of space in a bouquet, so it sorta balances out. My bridesmaids carried roses, gerbera daisies, alstomeria and greenery, they were a pretty good size, and costed about $30 each, which is actually pretty darn good. I had all roses with greenery and rhinestone sprays mixed all throughout mine and I used rhinestone banding to wrap my stems instead of ribbon....mine was a little more pricey, but it was because of all the bling!

Try looking at white, off-white or even pale to dark yellow. Royal blue is a very strong & vibrant colour. What you may need is something that will not overpower the dress design/style and your own dress & bouquet. If this is a summer wedding, how about using a sunflower, or summer bouquet of lavenders, roses or gerber daisies (which has so many varieties to choose in terms of colours.) Congrats & best of luck!

I got married in October and used colorful Gerbera Daisy's and small Lily's in the bouquets. They weren't expensive at all and were beautiful. Mums are also in season in October and are a cheap. Best wishes and Congratulations!

I'm going w/Gerbera Daisies for my wedding in September. They are perfect for fall...the colors are gorgeous & the price is great. My bouquet is mini calla's, which are a little more expensive. Good Luck!!

I'm using artifical flowers. If money is an issue, you may want to consider that. That's why I'm using them....fresh flowers are so expensive! But the bouquets my future mother-in-law and I made are really pretty. Email me if you want, and I can send you pictures.

fake flowers look great, in season all year round and if they don't keep them then there is no great cost spent

Though i have kept my bridesmaid flowers for years until they disintergrated through a move...
