I agree with the individuals about contacting you local DNR (Department of Natural Resouces) about finding out where you can buy them and IF YOU NEED A STOCKING PERMIT. Some species cannot be stocked without a permit telling you that you can. The last thing you want is for an enforcement official to come on your property and fine you for fish you are not subposed to have.
I would not suggest taking fish from a pond for the simple fact is that their health is not watched, and if you not careful, you can stock sick fish into a healthy pond, thus causing a fish kill. Be careful, and buy stock from hatcheries that have proven track records and make sure you ask them what illnesses they test for in their stock.

Contact local hatcheries. In NYS, plenty of lakes and ponds are stocked with rainbow and brown trouts. These trouts were created through artificial means, yet they are real trouts. On Long Island, the Cold Spring Hatchery offers them.
