Now basque is spoken by all kids and as someone said, some old people. However, all those people are bilingual. In San Sebastian you will not have a problem at all, specially when they know you are not a spaniard (they might be a little bit reticent to speak Spanish, but not when the other person is from abroad). Do not worry. San Sebastian is a cosmopolitan city, specially during the summer.

You wont have any problem in learning Spanish in Basque Country. In fact everybody speaks Spanish, although some people prefer to speak basque with family or friends. Spanish is the first language of the region, so that means everybody can speak castellano, with exception of some few in very remote and tiny villages (not many cases!!!)

Yes, mostly of the people there is speaking just Castellano Spanish. It's the official language even if a minority (mostly old people) doesn't know it and speaks just the Basque language.

I would strongly recommend you to learn Basque if you are moving there cause although both are official languages, you might have problems with some nationalist people or even to find a good job. Some might refuse to answer you in Spanish cause they are very proud of their language and many dont consider themselves as part of the Spanish community. The same happens in Catalonia if you don t speak Catalan.

Unlikely. The basques are veeeery proud of being basques. They don't consider themselves to be Spaniards. They rather speak their own language
