Hair texture is determined by the shape of the opening as hair pushes through the skin. A round opening would produce straight hair whereas an oval opening would propduce wavy
or curley hair. Therefore, the skin openings in the pubic region
are probably very oval producing flattened, curley hair.
An analogy: Squirt some toothpaste out of a tube- it is round and straight. Now slightly crush the tube opening with some pliers, making it oval. The paste will now come out flattened and curley.

Hey, I think I know what you mean. You're talking about how if you look really closely at the structure of a strand of hair, it can be round or flat. Well the obvious answer to me seems to be that clearly you have straight hair and are checking out your own pubes! The reason I say this is because as far as I'm aware, curly hair is always "flat" in terms of its structure, whether from the top of the head or the pubic region. This is what informs its different, uh, structural integrity. I guess the idea is if it was round, then it would be straight. But your question didn't make it clear you meant on the micro level... that's why people are thinking it's odd. But it's a fair enough question really.

Well, who's been contemplating his navel (and heaven knows what else!!) very closely today?

What makes you think pubic hair IS indeed flat? I'm not sure that you are correct in that assumption.

Is that for everyone? I have never heard that, but that may be something to research if you are really interested. I happen to love subjects involving medical-type topics.
