I constantly get migraines! I mean, every other day... & they make me feel so sick. Including, nausea, fatigue, etc. Can anyone give me any suggestions of what helps for their migraines - even if it's not medication!

Here's what I have tried: Laying in a dark room (my mom's remedy), Imitrex, Relpax, Midrin (all rx), regular Advil, cutting out caffeine (then I got migraines more often & 10x worse), cutting out alcohol (has helped slightly) - what else would you suggest? I can't take these! :'(

Do not use any caffeine as it aggravates the headaches . drink water and sports drinks, dehydration is a frequent problem .

Here's a treatment that I have found works even though it may sound funny.
Place an ice pack at the back of your neck for ten minutes at a time. Do this several times a day. Massage toothpaste (yes, toothpaste) on your temples and lay quietly in a cool room With the ice pack on the back of your neck . This will often take away the pain.

Hi,

What helps is having always at hand special pain killers against migraines, when it starts. But the best way is to prevent altogether by having a regular workout, doing body relief sessions.

Being in a room with an open window, or being outside in a fresh air regularely helps also, as one of the causes of migraines is lack of oxygen.

I've found a video which talks about this very nicely, and you may want to look.

To get them to go away and stay away, I get regular chiropractic adjustments. It's the only thing that truly gets rid of them.

For pain management, Excedrin migraine is the only OTC that works for me. Other migraine sufferers I know swear by an off brand pain reliever that is usually found in individual packets in office first aid kits and it's called Pain Aid. My hubby actually swears by that stuff for everything. And it usually works pretty fast (10-15 minutes).

Figuring out the triggers would help. Getting the proper sleep helps for me. Also avoiding bright lights in a dark setting. I have gotten migraines at weddings and movies.

Finding a quiet, dark, and cool location helps. Also taking OTC medication the minute a headeache starts helps. I still get headaches but they rarely escalate into where I get nauseas.

Also see a doctor.

There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis,
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine.
Acupuncture is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy, YOG and Ayurved, but how can you manage pl see.
Sweet foods and good sleep will help you. You should avoid sleeping late at night, alcohole, spicy and stale foods.
But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it isvery strong.
