I like the way you put this. It's what some of us here having been saying in way more words.

Part of the problem is that many believers refuse to really listen to what we're saying. They assume and read into our words much that isn't there and refuse to understand when we point out that they've gotten it wrong.

At root, many Christians treat us as if we were subhuman, not even worthy of the tolerance they grudingly give believers in other religions. I'm guessing that most atheists here have received at least one such answer or e-mail.

I'm religious (polytheist) and I say no prophet too.
Feel free to disagree.. it won't bother me a bit.

Exactly, it's no big deal that atheists don't share other people's many and varied delusional religious beliefs... why all the tantrums???
Most religious people themselves don't share the beliefs of people of other religions... where other religions are concerned they are certainly non-believers just like us atheists so why any of them pretend not to understand atheists not sharing any of their specific religious beliefs is extremely hard to fathom.

The difference is the fact that you are arguing that there is, was or will Not be a prophet. They are arguing about who is who. Not weather they existed. sorry but at least have a valid ? It is like you are saying one is saying the water is sweet and the other says it is bitter. and then you come along and say it is not even there. Yet they see it. Just because you don't doesn't make it less real to them.
