Coconut water is low in fat and calories, has no cholesterol, and has a natural balance of sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium- making it a healthy electrolyte drink. It has even been used intravenously to stabilize electrolytes.
Many people know of the healing benefits of coconut oil. Coconut water now joins the pantry’s medicine cabinet. Coconuts are anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-microbial. The lauric acid in coconuts is also used to heal digestive tract disorders such as Leaky Gut Syndrome.
According to ayurvedic belief, coconut is carminative: meaning that it helps to prevent intestinal gas, aids in removing toxins and increases the digestive tract’s ability to absorb nutrients. Coconut balances acid levels and flushes toxins out. Ayurveda considers coconut a natural stress-buster.
The calming, cooling benefits of coconut water relieves burning sensations and hot flashes and “restores emotional stability in menopausal women”. This property of coconut water also makes it an excellent choice for liver problems, hepatitis or inflammation.

Coconut water is great if you use it as a sports drink, it has high potassium and mineral content which helps the body recover from rigorous exercise.. Coconut milk on the other hand has soluble fat, so it is great for low fat cooking , like making stews and such. Don't confuse them, they are very different. Coconut water was used during WW2 as a Plasma substitute, fluid resuscitation of patients with dehydration or hypovolemia, because it is isotonic and sterile. and was used intravenously during shortages in remote areas. Fresh coconuts for drinking should be young and green, and are generally still attached to the tree. Otherwise, it can be rancid or have a funky odor and a taste.

Hi
I have heard that coconut water (the juice from inside a coconut or products which replicate it) acts as a laxative if too much is consumed.
If you watched the programme in the Uk called castaway, the people on the island were always complaining about it.
I do not think it would increase weight but i'm sure it does contain calories as it is very sweet.

There is nothing harmful in fresh coconut water... drink it as much as you can or afford to buy...
In Andhra Pradesh, India, fermented coconut water is taken as an alcoholic drink... that is harmful...
