I would have to vote for Ernest Hemmingway. He frequently caught bill fish that most fishermen only dream of. Also, he wrote the Old man and the Sea. A wonderful story whose main character, Santiago, displays the connection between a fisherman and his quarry by referring to the huge marlin dragging his boat as brother and also by demonstrating the respect a true fisherman has for so noble a fish.

The Old Man and the Sea also introduced many readers to the joys and pains of fishing for the first time, many of whom are still fishing today. He also shows his readers the beauty that can exist in fishing and because of that, he should be the greatest.

Kevin Van Dam, because he is the most consistant angler, with the most championship wins in the last 4 years, he only gets better, not to mention he is a very admirable person. Definitely someone to have as a roll model, on and off the water.

Jesus was.

When He said "lower your nets", the nets always came up full.

No one has ever been able to duplicate His ability to fill a boat so quickly.
