I dont think i protein free diet is a good idea...protein is an incredibly important nutrient for the body. Some of its uses (according to the Abs Diet book):

1) builds the framework of your body, including muscles, organs, bones, and connective tissues
2) in the form of enzymes, it helps your body digest food
3) as a hormone, it tells your body when you use food as energy and when to store it as fat
4)it transports oxygen through your blood to your muscles and organs
5) as an antibody, it protects you from illness when viruses and bacteria attack.

So its quite clear that protein is not only important, but ESSENTIAL to good health. My advice? Get as much as you can from healthy sources (skim milk, lowfat cheese, light yogurt, lean cuts of meat, etc, etc.)
