I'm 22 years old and for the last week, every muscle in my body has been aching. I feel like an old man. I haven't been working out so the muscle aches are not from that. The most pronounced aches are in my neck, mid-back (shoulder blades), calves and hands. What on earth could be causing this?
I read up on muscle aches and it said that fibromyalgia can be the cause, and since I have trouble sleeping as well as depression/anxiety, I am slightly worried that this may be the case.. has anyone else had experience with this kind of thing? It's not terribly severe but especially in my back, it is definitely noticable and I think if it lingers for another day or two I'm going to need to see a Dr. about it because this has never happened to me before..some help, please?

I had complete adrenal crash, and that caused the symptoms you are describing. I felt like I had been hit by a truck every morning when I woke up. I also collapsed into bed every night feeling completely exhausted without having done anything to cause exhaustion. This from a person who has worked out diligently and eaten right for 25 years. I found I could not work out, had constant legs pains and cramping, gall bladder problems, vertigo, high blood pressure, and wild blood sugar fluctuations...also thyroid problems. Doctors tried every test in the book for 2 years.....they said it might be MS, ALS, might be Fibromyalga. None of those sounded good to me. Turns out it was simple Adrenal fatigue...I kept trying to exercise in hopes that it would make me feel better. That actually made it MUCH worse. I found the book "Adrenal Reset Diet" by Alan Christianson and that saved my life. Don t be fooled, it s not a diet book. I took the questionnaire test to find out the level that my adrenals were functioning in and found I was 25 points above a total crash. After 6 months of following the recommendations in the book and working with my doctor I am able to function more normally and do moderate exercise. I have to avoid stressful situations and watch what and when I eat, but it s working. The recovery period is long though. At least one year to feel like a "normal" person without constant muscle aches and mental/physical exhaustion.

Hi
Do you have any other symptoms? Could it be like the flu aches? I know that when i have been ill with the flu, my body aches.
I dont really iknow what to suggest except try taking a long hot bath as hot as you can stand it, this will help relax the muscles.
Definately see your Dr though - hope all goes well.

Lyrica can be prescribed for fibromyalgia, diabetic nerve pain, to control seizures, and to decrease nerve pain amongst other conditions. Lyrica affects chemicals in the brain that send pain signals across the nervous system. You have to remember that this is a temporary fix- yes you may have some pain relief, but it is going to last as long as you keep taking the drug. Why not try some alternative treatment ? - like chiropractic, physical therapy, acupuncture, massage, cranio sacral therapy? You might be surprised, and there are no side effects with these treatments. You need to have a proper examination with x-rays to see what is going on with your cervical spine region. If indeed you have something going on with the cervical region, consider traction for the neck. You can use a simple cervical traction device at home or even get a traction pillow for sleeping at night. I hope this helps you.

You're very wise to have investigated this yourself. Yes, this could be Fibromyalgia. You have the classic symptoms with the pain starting in the neck and shoulders. There are eighteen trigger points that a doctor of rheumatology would check to verify that you have this. I recommend you see a doctor of rheumatology as soon as possible and get this verified.
I have written an article on Fibromyalgia that is far too big to place here. I've enclosed a link where you can read about it and learn more about the condition and what you can do to help yourself at home.
If you have any further questions please let me know,

First approach your doctor for suspected Rheumatism. Do RA and ESR tests. If it is positive it confirms. If it is -ve and ESR is high then we call it as -ve RA.
There is no medicine or faithful treatment available in the world for RA.
Many times acupuncture helps too good; pl try if you don't know.

If this is not a result of a workout, then probably there is a need to do some medical tests to understand what is going on.
