The best way to start lucid dreaming is to become familiar with your dreams and dream cycles. Start by keeping a dream journal and upon awakening quickly write down everything you can remember. Also you should start performing some "reality/dream checks" several times a day.
Walk into a room and switch the lights on and off. Light switches do not work properly in dreams. Read some text or look at a watch then look away and then read it again. Text, numbers and watches tend to malfunction or change in dreams. Look at and examine your hands. Often times your hands will appear distorted, or have too many fingers when you are dreaming.
You should develop the habit of performing these checks several times a day. The hope is that you will perform one of these checks during a dream and then realize that you are actually dreaming.
Another method which often works is to fully awaken during the night or early morning and then go back to sleep. Set your alarm for the middle of the night and then force yourself to awake. Read something, go for a short walk or whatever you need to do to keep yourself awake for at least 30-45 minutes. Then go back to sleep. The probablity of you having a lucid dream after this break is now much higher.
Good luck!

Interesting way of describing it. If we go far away from the hectic routine and the crowds of opinions, viewing it all from the distance, yes, we might see it as a lucid dream within another lucid dream. After all, in a world where the rules of logic are questionable, how do we know if what we see, touch or hear is truly there? How do we define logic or reality? In the absence of those two bases of the world, we could safely assume that life is just a matter of perception. Humans are creatures that live according to the rules of their own instincts of perception. We're capable of maintaining lucidity and power of comprehension, therefore we're still aware - hence the LUCID dream. But the limits of reality are questionable - hence the dream. If every action is based on personal instincts and personal matters of perception, then one act after the other means one lucid dream within another lucid dream. After all, we're all dreams inside the dream of a dreamer who's been asleep since the beginning of time. We're all the lucid products of a dreamer who sleeps at the gate of time. When he/she obtains dream lucidity, his/her consciousness will be awoken, and when looking inside of his/her own dreams, we'll be inevitably faced with our own reflection. And we'll wake up. The dream will end and we'll remain in the pure form of lucidity. :)

To lucid dream the first and most important thing is to understand your sleep and waking patterns as well as know what you are dreaming about. Keep a detailed diary of what you dream about, how you felt in the dream, how long it seemed to last, that sort of stuff.
And try and go to bed at the same time. This allows your body to adjust and to know, even when asleep, what is happening around you.
The best time in your sleep cycle for lucid dreams to occur is in REM sleep. You can find more about this from lots of websites. And a little practice will go far. Be patient.

I have discovered recently that more and more people worldwide are beginning to recall their dreams in greater detail and are often greatly impacted by their dream occurrences. I find it nearly a surreal fact itself that people from all walks of life dream of very similar places and events almost as if we are all connected somehow.
To gain better consciousness during your dreams and therefore a higher level of recall the best tool available is keeping a dream journal. As our subconscious mind is in control during our sleep we frequently forget our dreams upon waking. The more vivid ones have flashes throughout the day, but we even lose those details also over time. With a dream journal you simply write your dreams down as soon as you wake and give the dream a simple name so it can be read at any time and recalled.
At first, keeping the journal is more difficult, but in time you will remember your dreams just as if you were fully awake. It took me about a year of keeping dreams written down in a wire bound paper notebook before I achieved full consciousness in my dreams. Now I remember as many as seven dreams a night while my body sleeps. It is like going to college class every night because I learn so much and meet so many people in my dreams.
For me it has really raised my consciousness and I have proceeded to a point that I can think of places to see before I go to sleep at night and I visit them in my dreams. Who knows what this will lead to if it proceeds globally with many people beginning to do the same. We may begin meeting each other with certain regularity and accuracy in our dream world, the possibilities would be endless.
Last thought to ponder: There are many people in the world that have been blind from birth or very early childhood that dream in vivid color each night just like anyone else. They dream of flying in the clouds, riding in red cars, and all the other grand things that are real and imagined. If they have never seen these things then where are they going during their dreams? Yes, a thought to ponder.

Sorry dude, I cannot control it myself. It just happens. Those expereinces just let me know that there is definitely a spirit that I have. To understand why I have a spirit was more important to me. It led me to God. God is the Chief Spirit. He made it so that we could have them.
I don't know whether or not you are a Christian, but perhaps you can ask God to lead you to Him, and that might do it.

POen your mind while sleeping. Keep repeating thoughts in your head. If you have one, do a reality check. You could bite yourself, that works because there will be no pain
