let's say you've already repented, but not yet baptised, one day in chruch you have another choice to go get baptised, but before you make up your own mind to go without being told, your parents make you/tell you to go up and do so on the spot

does that baptism count? or do you have to make the choice yourself

and about this baptism isn't necessary to get to heaven what up with that it is necessary right?

Friend, I have struggled with this issue as well, and this is what I have been taught.

Water baptism is an act of obedience to God. The blood of Christ is what saves us, not the water.

Obedience to parents is obedience to God, in a sense, because God commands obedience to parents.

God also knows our hearts.

So although I don't know your heart, I would say that it is best to be baptized, in obedience to your parents, and more importantly, in obedience to God.

We don't fully understand everything about salvation; we do the best we can, by God's grace.

If we remember that it is God's commandments that we are trying to obey, that it is God that saves us, and that our works cannot save us, I think we will be all right.

As I understand it, believing that Jesus Christ rose from the dead is what is required for salvation. It's about recognizing who Jesus is; the fact that He's God and Christ, and that He paid for my and your sins with His blood.

Baptism, I believe, is an act of obedience to God that every believer should go through if possible. The thief on the cross next to Jesus was saved, but not baptized by water.

May God bless you. If I have not written the truth, please let me know. I do not wish to mislead you.

The pastor would have wanted to sit down with you first to make sure you knew what baptism is about, you wouldn't have just gone up and been baptized on the spot based on someone else's order to do so (although it could be wrong here, some faiths might practice this).

If you consider baptism as a "marking" for salvation for the new Christian, then if you have repented, you should want baptism as God's seal of your faith, not a public profession to glorify yourself.

Baptism is a public declarationof your faith. It's YOUR choice.

DId you get baptised?

You are only to do it once...or you only NEED to do it once (it's not a monthly yearly thing). I hope if when you were/will be baptised that you were thinking about how YOU love the Lord, and not how your folks TOLD you to.

Your parents are either TOO controlling, or don't understand WHY one is to be baptised.

What you experienced was getting wet in public.
No that Baptism didn't count :)

Baptism is a public confession of your faith in Jesus. It is symbolic of us dieing and burying our old selves with Jesus and being raised up as a new creation in Christ Jesus. It is not necessary (thief on the cross) But I can not see why anyone who loved Jesus would not want to be baptized if they had the chance. I will tell anyone who will listen what GOD has done in my life.

baptism does not save from sin, but from a bad conscience. peter clearly taught that baptism was not a ceremonial act of physical purification, but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. baptism is the symbol of what has already occurred in the heart and life of one who has trusted Christ as savior.. baptism is an important step of obedience that every christian should take, but baptism can't be a requirement for salvation. to make it such is an attack on the sufficiency of the death+resurrection of Jesus Christ.

as far as your parents making you do it, it does not matter if you were baptized by immersion, pouring, or sprinkling - if you have not first trusted in Christ for salvation, baptism is meaningless and useless. i think your case is fine, but you must know that it is not necessary for salvation.

Baptism is a personal vow between a person and God. If this vow is broken God sends his angels to punish that person!

Can anyone else decide to vow this for you? Common sense and the scriptures say no!

Ecclesiastes 5:5-6 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay. 6Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an inadvertence. Wherefore should God be wroth at thy voice, and destroy the work of thy hands? (Darby)

About going to heaven -- haven't you read Matthew 5:3-5. Some shall go to heaven and be Kings and Priests with Christ, and the meek shall inherit the earthly Paradise!

Baptism doesn't save anyone. It is merely an outward expression of your faith and belief. So that pretty much makes your question irrelevant. However, a person should decide on his or her own to get baptized.

in Christianity baptism can only be done to those who understand the scriptures. Jesus Christ made an example He was baptized when he was 30 years old.I am not saying that we should follow Him because some people understands the scriptures earlier in their lives so baptism depends on the person who wants to be baptized.

A child that is aborted: Does that child spend eternity in heaven or hell?

No, baptism by water is not necessary to get to heaven. Baptism by water is simply an action statement declaring to the world who it is you believe in.

Baptism by the Holy Spirit is necessary. But it is as simple as simply receiving it.

Baptism is a ritual that a believer goes through in order to announce that he believes in the resurrection. The movements of baptism are imitating coming out of the grave to life. It also announces symbolically that you belong not to the world, but to God.

So no, we are saved by grace through faith. If we trust God through Jesus Christ we are saved. Baptism is merely a chance to announce it.
