My personal favourite is a small, very basic campsite, it doesn't have facilities such as toilets, showers, shop but it's very quiet, alongside a river, immediate access to the hills and not many people use it. The grid ref is NY 272 131, it's not marked on the maps and to reach it you have to drive to the end of the tarmacced road at Stonethwaite, continue along a bumpy dirt track and it's on the left after about a mile.

There's a couple nearby that are 'orgainsed' sites - one on the road between Rosthwaite and Seatoller and one in Seatoller itself.

There's a couple of popluar ones in Wasdale that provide easy access to good climbing areas including Great Gable, Pillar etc. This is to the west side of the Lake District...
Wasdale Head Inn - NY 186 088
Brackenclose - NY 183 074

There's also large campsites with all facilities in Langdale, these can be very busy. They provide good access to the climbing areas on and around the Langdale Pikes, Bow Fell etc.

Personal recommendation - if it's a quiet place you're after and you don't mind 'roughing it' a bit then go for the first one. If you want to be in the heart of climbing country with all facilities laid on then and don't mind being 'squeezed in' then go for the one near the Olde Dungeon Ghyll (Pub) in Langdale.

it will be that you've left it slightly previous by using stumble on a suitable web site for such dissimilar of you mutually. besides the indisputable fact that, one suggestion is that the top of each kinfolk might want to connect the camping out and Caravanning club. they have dissimilar internet sites contained in the Lake District and, altho' they don't promise to be able to web site a number of tents close mutually, if pitches are available in - even not close mutually - that is extra efficient than not being waiting to stumble on a area mutually. they have internet sites for tents at Eskdale (close to Ravenglass),Kendal, Keswick (with 250 pitches) and Windermere (some miles from the lake) also with 250 pitches. I really haven't any economic interest contained in the C & C club; i'm only a member. once you're contributors you could examine availability of pitches and e book on-line merely an theory!!
