If you are planning for a third-party to pay for the chair, a therapist must sign off on the paperwork. In most cases, your local therapist knows both your needs and the local availability.

They make several options that can help you- power assist chairs, one-hand drive chairs, etc.

I am 48, did the discs in and have spent five weeks in a wheelchair. Its no fun! However if I had the Money, I would invest in the iBot. Normally Occupational Therapists at the Hospital will advise you on what type to get but if you are in plaster, then you will have difficulties at home and all you will be able to do is watch TV.
