Monotheism is the true belief in the God of Abraham which is why Jews and Muslims do not believe in the Trinity.

Why is there a trinity: God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.....
(dont explain Jesus to me please.... i was a christian for 20 years and now an atheist)

Catholics.... if there is "ONE TRUE GOD" why are there over 5,000 saints ... of whom alot of Catholics pray too.. examples: Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Akita, Our Lady of Guadalupe......

Don't you love christian logic

Christianity is monotheistic. (conclusion stated first)
Trinity is 3 Persons in ONE God. (really illogical premise)
Catholics pray to saints and to Mary. They do not worship them (terrible understanding semantics and horrible use of reasoning)

so 1 Father + 1 Son + 1 Holy Ghost (which I never understood) = 1 Trinity = 1 God?

I bathe in the shower, I don't wash. (this was pretty sad)

[005:072] Surely, they have disbelieved who say: "God is the Messiah Jesus, son of Mary." But the Messiah Jesus said: "O Children of Israel! Worship God, my Lord and your Lord." Verily, whosoever sets up partners (in worship) with God, then God has forbidden Paradise to him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong doers) there are no helpers.

[005:073] Surely, disbelievers are those who said: "God is the third of the three (in a Trinity)." But there is no god (none who has the right to be worshipped) but God alone. And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a painful torment will befall on the disbelievers among them.

[005:074] Will they not turn with repentance to God and ask His forgiveness? For God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

[005:075] The Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, was no more than a Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother [Mary] was a Siddîqah [i.e. she believed in the Words of God and His Books (see Verse 66:12)]. They both used to eat food (as any other human being, while God does not eat). Look how We make the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to them; yet look how they are deluded away (from the truth).

A little guidance for you my misguided friend, the truth is apparent, whether you choose to see it or not is up to you

In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

[112:001] Say (O Muhammad [Peace Be upon Him]): "He is God, (the) One.

[112:002] God – the Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, (He neither eats nor drinks).

[112:003] He begets not, nor was He begotten.

[112:004] And there is none coequal or comparable to Him."

Peace be with you

Christianity is one of the three major monotheistic world religions. The other two, Judaism and Islam, do not include the Trinity in their interpretation of God, so Christians sometimes _appear_ polytheistic to Jews and Muslims.

On your other point, Catholics do not "pray to" saints. They ask saints to pray for them to God. There's a difference.

As a Muslim I believe that Christianity today is a perfect example of polytheism.
The trinity is the base of a polytheistic religion it says that God is One in three (which I never really understood how could that be) and that makes Christians say that Jesus(PBUH) himself is God or son of God so they pray and worship him and that's polytheism: when you ask someone else except God Almighty to save you, or to cure you, or to be wealthy..........etc. or even if you ask someone to tell you about your future (which in slam is a strictly divine power) that's also polytheism, or if you use magic to change your destiny or others destiny to make them ill or crazy....that's also interfering in God's domain and in Islam it's also polytheism. Or if you put any kind of pendant around your neck and you believe it will bring you luck and keep you safe, that's also polytheism because no one would keep you safe and bring you luck except God almighty and doing that is like you're admitting that another power or "God" would do that to you. Unfortunately there are so many aspects people don't know that makes them polytheistic, and even if Christian think they're monotheistic with the trinity they are in Islam's sight surely polytheistic because all things I mentioned. Please look in the sites below.

Christians believe in the God of Abraham as well, hence Jesus' repetition of the Shema in Mark 12:29 :"And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord."

Believing that the Messiah is divine is not polytheism,as the Old Testament says that the Messiah would be divine.

"6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, [a] Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David's throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the LORD Almighty
will accomplish this"

Isaiah 9:6-7

Christians are monotheists -we believe in one God who exists in three persons -Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

You may not understand it, but it is a central belief of Christian faith. We see the Three in Oneness of God at Jesus' baptism, at the Mount of Transfiguration and described throughout the New Testament. The word Trinity was coined to describe this aspect of God's nature.

Although I am not a Catholic, they do not view saints as Gods. They consider their prayers to them to be asking that deceased Christian in heaven to pray to God on their behalf.

Non-Catholic Christians do not believe that these prayers to them are either effective (saints in heaven are not aware of people on earth, for one thing) or necessary (Jesus is the one mediator between God and man).

I guess Unitarian Christianity is the true monotheism among the christians.

I don't know whether the rest of Cristians are monotheistic or polytheistic because their concept of Trinity is very confusing.

Well they claim they are but the trinity concept is very flawed. It's like the Hindus saying we actually worship one true god and all those idols are just god's resemblance in different forms. As God of love in one form and as god of destructor in another form. It's just a god damn lie. Trinity is blasphemy Christians put towards God. Don't teach me trinity. I know yet it doesn't make sense.
God told all the Prophets and messengers to worship him as one; Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Muhammad(peace be upon them all) except for Jesus? It's a lie they put on Jesus's mouth. Anyway, there are sects in Christianity who worship God as only one and not in trinity.

Dear Friend

Your question is based on the teaching of the Holy Trinity, I do not blame you for being confused brother, the Trinity is a teaching of Man, and was not beleived by the early churches or taught by Jesus.

Christ was the son of the one true God. Many people will tell you that they exist as a trinity, but this is simply not true, consider the following scripture.

John 14:28"You heard me say, 'I am going away and I am coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.

Also

Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they will die,
but the dead know nothing;
they have no further reward,
and even the memory of them is forgotten.

If the Trinity doctrine was true, then who resurrected Jesus when he was dead? and why did Jesus say the father is 'Greater that I'

And concerning the kingdom,

Matthew 24:36
[ The Day and Hour Unknown ] "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

If Jesus was God then why did he not know.

And again, in the book of Mark

The Greatest Commandment
Mark 12:28One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
29"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.[e] 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'[f] 31The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[g]There is no commandment greater than these."

32"Well said, teacher," the man replied. "You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 33To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."

34When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.

The lord is ONE/ you are right in saying he is ONE.

1 Corinthians:15:25For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27For he "has put everything under his feet."[c] Now when it says that "everything" has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.

This ends the confusion, ' Now when it says that "everything" has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.'

If Jesus was God, how could he be made subject to himself?

I urge you to investigate these things for yourself, many Christians will tell you that it is a mystery that we are not meant to understand, Not so! God wants us to understand everything clearly so that we can come to him with accurate knowledge that breeds love.

The bible also says:

Ephesians 3:9and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. 10His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms

"make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God"

I hope that this answers your questions brother.

God Bless
