I kinda like partner, but it sounds a little detached, soul mate is overused, lover I really like, but people have their minds in the gutter. Boyfriend/girlfriend, just a little young sounding. I dunno, gentleman friend/ lady friend?

"date", "lover", "sweet heart", "significant other", "my girl/boy man/woman", "darling", "my human biological entity, who I see regularly as the object of my current romantic and plutonic interests, and with whom, I may on occasion, do the horizontal boogie in an effort to express my deepest feelings of love, desire and affection torwards them, I also engage in this activity occasionally to relieve tension, but mainly because this human biological entity has captured my blood pumping mechanism and invades my thoughts and raptures my soul from the depths of hell that would be a life without their presence and love."

this might not be for everyone but me and my gf like to give eachother nicknames to distinctly identify that we are in a relationship. on the cute side she is my carebear and im her sunshine, but on the romantic side she is my intimate best friend and im hers. and if anyone asks us if we are bf and gf i tell them she is my everything.

How about letting your imagination fly and create your own term of partnership.

I take my cue from Jay and Silent Bob and call her my "hetero life mate."

Or you could just shorten it to "life mate".
