Kidney stones often cause no pain while they are in the kidneys, but they can cause sudden, severe pain as they travel from the kidneys to the bladder.

Call a doctor right away if you think you have kidney stones. Watch for severe pain in your side, belly, or groin or for urine that looks pink or red. You may also feel sick to your stomach (nausea) and may vomit.

Symptoms of kidney stones may vary from mild to severe depending on the size of the stone and the obstruction it causes. Small kidney stones usually do not cause any noticeable symptoms. Many people with very small kidney stones, usually excrete them from the body (in the urine), without even noticing. Kidney stone symptoms are largely dependent on the size of the stone, where it's located, and the degree of obstruction it causes.

If a kidney stone is large enough to cause blockage of urine flow there may be blood in the urine, (especially if the stone is within the kidney). Usually though, kidney stone symptoms only develop after the stone passes into the ureters (tubes joining the kidneys to the bladder). Other symptoms include severe pain, nausea and vomiting, frequent and painful urination, fever, and chills. Most of these symptoms occur in severe cases. Once blockage occurs, however, one of the most noticeable symptoms of kidney stones is mild to sever pains.

To help prevent kidney stones from developing you should drink lots of water, eat a diet rich in fresh fruits and raw vegetables, nuts, grains, seeds (especially pumpkin seeds), oats and wheat bran.

Hope this answers your question.

I had kidney stones, two of them without a symptom until they started moving.. They hit me and hit me hard. Now I have a small stone in my left kidney. Ocassionally I get a sharp pain for a split second.
It will most likely eventually try and get out of my body. I also get nauseated at times.

So, the answer is yes and no

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
