repeat after me:

"Hi! i'd shake your hand, but i'm so excited about the opportunity to interview here that my palms are sweaty!"

EVERYONE who interviews knows that candidates get nervous. no one holds it against you. the more you can be at ease with it instead of thinking of it as some sort of fatal flaw, the less anyone will even notice.

frankly, i'd rather someone just mention their palms are sweaty than shake a wet palm! but even when i do, it's just not a big deal. just don't come in with a headcold, SNEEZE into your hands, and then hold one out for a shake!

(if you're really awkward, you can always use that one, "I may be coming down with something so I'm not shaking hands today.")

And just carry a handkerchief in your pocket or some other thing to wipe your hands off on OTHER than your clothes.

In other words, it's not that your hands sweat, it's what you do about it. Have consideration for the other person, and you'll make points for being smooth instead of losing them for being nervous.

This is a tough one. What I do is put my hands on my pant legs and slightly curl my fingers to raise my palms off my pants (otherwise I'd sweat into my pant legs!). That allows air to flow under my hands, drying them. Then when I stand up after the interview, I press my hands on my pants to dry off any remaining perspiration and shake hands. Sometimes my hands are cold, but not clammy.

Lol. be happy it is only your hands because you at least can keep hands out of sight.

When I am nervous, my forehead gets sweaty and i wipe them with the back of my hands.
