If we don't stand up and fight for our rights, then yes, that day is coming soon. There is legislation bouncing around right now that is trying to make reading the Bible a hate crime.
There was already a group arrested in Philly and accused of assault with a weapon for reading a Bible out loud during a legal peaceful protest near a gay rally. They eventually got set free, but they did spend some time in jail. On the other side, the militant gays (the Pink Angels) that physically attacked these protesters that were reading their Bible, were not charged with anything. Hmmm..... Anyone else see a problem with this?

It's hard to understand why someone would suggest that Christians will be persecuted for their beliefs in the US.
Considering that the recent ruling by the new Supreme Court regarding late terms abortions forces Christian morality on the rest of the nation, it's clear the Christian agenda is alive and very well fed.
One would hope that tolerance and acceptance would work on a reciprocal basis, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Religious tolerance in our world today:
North Korea - haha. No Christians, Jews, Muslims, etc. are allowed. They're banned.
China - improving, but true religious freedom is yet to be reached.
Middle East - Shiite, Sunni, and Jews always seem to be at odds
Indonesia - everyone must register under a religion. You must be a member of some religion at LEAST by name. No aetheism allowed.
United States - Christians are not always treated well here, either. Catholics are Christians, and the Protestant majority can be really cruel to them. That's intolerance.
Europe - major drives towards liberalism. Even "religious" people want religions to change to fit more liberal standards.
I'm not passing judgement, but that is the reality. We still have to reach a point where we accept all religions before we can say that "one day it will not be tolerated"...

Absolutely. I think Christianity is already seeing some loss of freedom in America. I believe there will come a day where there will be a one world religion even, but I think Christians will be the most persecuted as the coming of the Lord draws nearer.

the fact that christianity is so widespread and influential is a good indicator that it is not going anywhere too soon, or in any real danger of persecution. just take a look at these boards. (or turn on the tv on a sunday and be greeted by one of millions of televangelists)
keep in mind that there has been a far greater deal of persecution carried out, throughout the history of the world, by people in the name of christianity! the spanish inquisition; mary tudor's execution of protestants (carried out in the name of catholicism); the crusades themselves, for that matter! I could name several more.
this is not that I'm saying that all christians condone the persecution of or willingly persecute others; i'm just trying to point out that, if anything, christians are the least prone to persecution at this point in time.

Funny question for you to ask since it is only in Christian nations where other religions have not been "tolerated." Even in Muslim nations, other religions have been "tolerated" even though there were some penalties to pay for the privilege (dhimmi). It has only been in Christian nations where people of other religions have been slaughtered and tortured for not converting to Christianity.
If that is your question, then the answer is NO! atheists nor any religious people will ever commit genocide against Christians.

YES, Christians are being persecuted for their beliefs in America.....Not like they are in other countries but it will happen in the future. The best part about reading the Bible and trusting our Lord Jesus Christ is that we know what happens in the end!

think of it this way. everybody is persecuted for thier beliefs everywhere. In USA muslims are hated. In middle east, christians are hated. Christians are even persecuted in USA. its just that most of the world has a belief just theres a lot of different ones. seriously, there is little atheism in the world. you could talk about how communism is atheism, but in actuality there is russian orthodox in russia and regional beliefs in china.

This is the sad truth unfortunately. There are many islamic leaders who claim to be very "religious", yet they belittle other religions when this is totally wrong, you are right in what you say. Not only this but they argue amongst each other and they belittle other muslims with different views and beliefs. Take the Ahmadis for example, they have continue to be persecuted, shot and slaughtered - this is totally wrong - why is this happening - because those Islamic "leaders" have gone astray, they lead their followers on the wrong path, on the path of killing. This is the same with terrorism, they try and get their point across by shielding their actions with religion. This is shameful and unacceptable, they obviously arent true muslims. In fact anyone who kills goes against the teachings of Islam.

to say the least, religion to this day has been of issue of persecution to many. notice that people judge religion according to his own measures and standard and thus, in his own mind, it's as if he persecutes other's beliefs... it's been like this. though it may sound a bit irrational and harsh (sorry if it offends anyone, i never intended it that way), it's how we are at certain times.and it occurs whether you're a methodist, adventist, baptist, buddhist, pentecostals, christians, atheist, agnostics, and yes even moslems, buddhists, etc...... but it is never shown nor even heard of, right??? why, well, persecution means to kill another, and we all believe it is unjust to take another one's life. so even if its not done in action, we do it in our own mind.... so in a way, we still tend to persecute the other....
just a hypothetical opinion and nothing else.... ciao.
