That's actually what most christians have told me they believe will happen. Their god will give them a sort of "holy amnesia" so they won't remember their loved ones who are currently roasting in hell, etc....
Sick, eh?

The creator does not keep the soul alive after death, and no death results in going to heaven. Even David was 'dead and buried, and his [tomb] is with us today'. In fact, 'the soul (body with the breath of life in it) that sinneth, it shall die', not live eternally. Man 'became a living soul', and returns to the earth until all shall be called in their order at the resurrection.
So, the point is moot, biblically speaking.

Your 'soul' is not something separate from you.
It IS you.
The word ' soul' is translated from the Hebrew word NEPHESH which means...that which breathes.
Genesis 1;20 calls animals ' souls'. They breathe, which complies with the translation.
People are 'souls'.
Souls can die.
(Ezekiel 18:4) Look! All the souls—to me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son—to me they belong. The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.
Adam and Eve were created 'souls'. They were not 'given' one.
the teaching that the soul is a separate spiritual part of us is not supported by scripture.
It is a wrong teaching.
so your question is asked from a faulty basis.

When I someday stand before God in Heaven, I expect that the trivial existance I lived here on Earth will no longer matter because my glorified existance with Him will be so much greater than anything I could ever experience here.
To be able to do nothing but serve God and praise Him for all of eternity is the gift that Christ gave us when he died on the cross for our sins.
For those of you who doubt, the question should never be ARE you going to live forever, but WHERE will you spend your eternity. We will all live forever in either eternal agony and suffering (Hell), or basking in God's eternal glory (Heaven). The choice is yours.

If you have had a happy life, then old memories would certainly be desirable. But if you have lead an unpleasant life, then won't you like to be free of those memories in your new form in a new setup?

He does that every life we get. That is why we don't remember our past lives so we can fulfill our material desires life after life. Until one gives up the desire to lord it over material nature and only wants to serve God do they return to the eternal spiritual kingdom of God. It is all very scientific. One has to understand karma, reincarnation and no one goes to hell eternally to understand the unlimited mercy and love of God. If we have other memories we wont be able to have full concentration. If anyone is in in Christ, he is a new creation. We will all be praising God and singing all the time. What a wonderful world it wud be!!

Why wipe the memory clean?
I have a better idea.
Do what God says and don't do so many things that give you bad memories.
That way you don't have to worry about it.

I would definitely be ok with that because if this life is just about serving Him and doing His will anyway (which it's supposed to be) whats the big dif between here and there?
