Hardly a good role model now is he?

What's the BIG idea? A world full of Sumo wrestlers? What then? A society with just McDonalds and cardiac hopsitals?

It's madness I tell you, sheer madness!

The chubby Buddha is about contentment. Its a very popular religion in America I'm told.

Its a bit like calling Jesus a hippy for wearing sandals and having a beard.

From what you wrote, you show little, even not knowledge about Buddha or Buddhism, Buddy. I will like to challenge you, friend...

So from which aspect YOU say he was a depicted fat and lazy? Simple because the statues? Or do any scripture or sutra have commented?

From which aspect YOU say that he was not a good model? From his teaching? Scripture? or from any sutra YOU have thoroughly contemplated which give YOU such conclusion?

If (only IF YOU) can answer all my questions thus convict all Buddhist around the whole world, then may be we should rethink about this religion....

may you be well and happy

he he :P your ignorance is pitiful....exhibiting your ignorance is not a thing to be proud of.....

(1) does any living being here today ACTUALLY know what Buddha looked like? no..so those are man made statues which are made according to that country's unique style of art....not every Buddha statue is like that.

(2)even if he WAS fat does it reduce the validity of his teachings? (one of the most important are living a MODERATE life..so ?)

(3)how did u arrive at the conclusion that fat=lazy? i know many skinny people who won't lift a finger to do anything.

(4)do u even know the definition of a "bastard"? or are you saying that all fat people are lazy because their parents had them without marrying 1st?

* and as for that answer about Buddha "chillin" again, pure ignorance....after attaining enlightenment, for the rest of his life he went all over teaching people.

i think that person said that "chilling" thing because he thinks that Buddha attained enlightenment AFTER his death..no that is not the case.Nirvana can never be attained AFTER death.it has to be attained whilst living through meditating.it's not something like "after u die,u go to heaven"

"He was pretty wealthy by the time he died"-no Buddha didn't own any material possessions other than the essentials.the main theme of his teachings are about GIVING up worldly desires.those were the true Buddhist teachings from the Buddha Gauthama.

keep in mind never to argue about something on which u are ignorant about.also,if the questions u have as to some subject are intelligent, people will respect u.utter nonsense like this will gain u nothing but a reputation of being uneducated and shallow not to mention spiteful and irrational.

may you be wiser in years to come ! live in peace!

Has your research shown you that Buddha was illegitimate or are just trying to be obnoxious. No legitimate observer has called Buddha lazy. And fat means something different than overeating.
I would recommend a course in comparative religions for you.

That is not the original form of Buddha. That is bogus. He was the most beautiful person. Lotuses would grow up from his feat when he would walk. There are so many misconstrued understandings of all these religions. You just have to know whats what. Read Bhagavad Gita As it is By Bhaktivedanta PRabhupada- tells all paths and Universal truth.

Actually, the Buddha wasn't originally portrayed in such a manner. Due to the Silk Road, Buddhism reached Asia from the Middle East, and it was only then that the Buddha was given the more robust form we see so often today.

You are referring to Maitreya - The future Buddha

This future Buddha is still in the Tusita heaven, in the state of a Bodhisattva. Gautama Buddha himself will enthrone him as his successor. The name means 'benevolence' or 'friendship'. He is now living his last existence as a Bodhisattva. In anticipation of his imminent arrival, he is sometimes considered as a Buddha and given the title of Tathagata.

It is only one of many depictions of Buddha. The image of a laughing Buddha brings a sense of prosperity to a dwelling.
You could try it yourself. Fill your house with images of the laughing Buddha and you will immediately feel a shift of consciousness. At least, it worked for me.

LOL

The Buddha is a depiction of what we all ought to be striving for, (on the inside.) He's just kickin' back and enjoying life in the shade. Being "fat and happy" is the way. (Think of the fat bit as being without any essential needs.)

Keep in mind that the original Buddhists didn't see Buddha as a god figure... that's fairly recent. Nonetheless... I wish you all the happiness and fatness in the world. Have a great day.

Do you advise a fats bald guy this is giggling together with his abdomen uncovered? Thats the giggling buddha, no longer Gautama. they are distinctive. The giggling buddha is meant to be in cost of prosperity, this is why maximum chinese language business enterprise might have him, some thing like the jap cat with one raised paw
