The words "In God We Trust" were placed on our currency in 1864 near the end of the Civil War. U.S. citizens urged the government to add the motto during a time of increased religious sentiment. To me it represents U.S. history and the ideals of our founding fathers. Since it's founding our country has become a melting pot of different religions; however, you can't deny or argue that it was founded by leaders who believed in one God and that at one time, the vast majority of citizens believed in one God and wanted their religious belief and solidarity to be known. It doesn't specify a Christian God, a Buddhist God, an Islamic God, or any other God, so in that sense, it could be considered rather inclusive (although I agree the original implications were a Christian God).

To just say "We Trust" sounds silly to me. We have to place our trust in something. At this time, I think there'd be a bigger outcry were it to say "We Trust In Our Government" or "We Trust In Our President."

Actually, Americans aren't all that trusting. Putting "We Trust" on U.S. currency would be as big a lie as "In God We Trust". Frankly, I think U.S. currency should be left as it is, so that the rest of the world will be constantly reminded just how pathetically hypocritical and delusional most Americans are.

No, because even the Qu'ran we are told

[003:160] If God helps you, none can overcome you; and if He forsakes you, who is there after Him that can help you? And in God (Alone) let believers put their trust.

so believers here is inclusive of all those who believe in the Oneness of God All-Mighty, that is the Yichud of Judaism, the First Commadment of Christianity, and the Tawheed of Islam!

That wouldn't make sense. We trust what?
We trust in God. Even though everyone has the right to choose to trust in Him or not....

ok im no bible expert and dont quote me here but it seems to me there was a man back in biblical times who asked Jesus something about paying his taxes. Jesus said something like whos face is on the coin? its ceasers (or whoevers it was). its his money, u can give it to him and what im remembering (perhaps badly) is that Jesus wanted the man to trust in God to take care of his needs

get rid of it.

and no, serial, it isn't forcing atheistic views on anyone. in fact, at the moment, the government is forcing christian views on us by putting "God" on our money.

there's a little law called separation of church and state. since money is a product of the state, i've never understood why it hasn't already been removed.
