If you do, then do you practice every moral law written in the bible or do you just pick and choose which ones you think are moral?

Asking questions to get a point across. Socrates-style. hehe

No, I do not get my moral values from the bible. I get my moral values from my up-bringing via role models, the rod, aspects of my culture and how they translate into my everyday lifestyle, family tradition, and learning from mine and others' past experiences... Just like everyone else.

I'm not a "religious" person, nor a " good" person.

I'm a real person.

It was not easy. But it was a learning process to actually live by what was in the Word of God. But I can say that I do live by the principles of what is written in it. It is all a choice. I am not saying I do not get angry or upset. But I am able to live this bible. I have had to endure some things I thought I would never be able to endure. And love some people I thought not were capable of loving. But through God all things are possible and with joy, peace, and love.

Yes moral character comes from the bible. Laws or convictions? All things must be learned first before you can apply them to living. Sometimes it takes living to understand the law, then you are convicted by it. After all that your moral self learns more. Therefore you become a moral witness to glorify Him!

God has written his laws on our hearts. We know right from wrong. The Bible mirrors these moral values. They are simple:

1. Love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.
2. Love your neighbor as your self.
3. Love one another as Jesus loved us.

All laws, moral values, rules, etc. are covered by the above. Now, read 1 Corinthians, chapter 13 to discover what love is.

I follow the ideas of the 10 commandments and what jesus said about love others as you would yourself. I don't believe in the god, heaven and hell part. I do pick and choose at times. Don't covet your neighbors wife. I'm 57 shes about 22 and the warm weather is here and she's out back sunbathing, I not supposed to covet that? No way I'm human and I'll covet like I never coveted before.

Yes. You practice what you learn from your reading the Bible. You can't pick or choose. It is either right or wrong, yes or no. No grey areas like the world has.

There are many things to overcome, it could take a lifetime.

My moral values come from the Catholic Church, which compiled, wrote, and published the Bible, but is not subject to it.

Jesus founded a living Church, to lead all to salvation. He didn't "found" a Bible.

Big difference!

Scala Paradisi -- the Stairway to Heaven -- describes a 4-runged ladder to Heaven, each rung being one of the four steps in method of Bible reading.

lectio (reading): "looking on Holy Scripture with all one's will and wit"

meditatio (meditation): "a studious insearching with the mind to know what was before concealed through desiring proper skill"

oratio (prayer): "a devout desiring of the heart to get what is good and avoid what is evil"

contemplatio (contemplation): "the lifting up of the heart to God tasting somewhat of the heavenly sweetness and savour"

Religion is not a prerequisite for good morals. If that weren't true, then mentally challenged people would all be amoral people.

If I followed the lead of God, then I would murder all those that do not follow me. Which is exactly what happened in Genesis 7 AND Luke 19
