Yeah, but you will have to look at the people who Lot was living around. Lot had back slid in his spirit and lived among the Sodomites. The scripture says in Galatians do not be decieved evil communication corrupts good character. No Christian living around and hanging out with evil people everyday will stay holy, but will become like them. Lot was called righteous because he believed the angels when they warned him to flee and he repented. Once you repent according to Ezekiel chapter 18 yours sins are forgotten. That's why the bible calls Lot a righteous man. He believed God and his sins were blotted out.

Lot knew that the TWO guests were messengers from God . And being supernatural entities that they had tremendous powers. So he probably thought to save many he would hold off the confrontation .
