Why is that? Jesus Himself clearly tells the disciples He is going to return even tells them signs to look for in all 4 gospels, through the prophets hundreds of years before He was born and then the whole book of Revelation. Do you think the church avoids it because they fear people will look to the leaders less? You would think they would want Christians to live in the hope of His return and live more fully in that hope.

Exactly!! Ever since I really started reading the Bible I was amazed at how many things they don't talk about in church. But you know that's why we have to read that book ourselves because they will not teach it to you in most churches. I wish they would though.

I think many church pastors do not teach it because they don't see how practical it is. There are many subjects taught in the Bible and Bible prophecy is not a big topic with many preachers.

I don't believe you can point to a single reason why they don't speak of the Second Coming, especially the reason you give.

1. They may not understand the Second Coming and what it involves in getting ready. I wrote a book on the practical aspects on getting ready for the Second Coming. See my link for more info.

2. They may be focusing on the here and now, not the future.

3. They may find Bible prophecy too difficult to preach -- you know, "all those dragons and fire and brimstone stuff." They don't know what to do about all the symbolic imagery.

4. They have have their own favorite subjects to talk about, like the prosperity gospel, faith, healing, money, helping the poor, politics, and so on.

The issue itself is complex. The 2nd coming to you may not be the same as other theologists consider it. Using just the Bible I could determine several theories, including that the 2nd coming is what happens when you die. Taking that as a starting point, picture the rest knowing it is your soul on a journey.

As you see, what you were taught as what all should know, may not be in agreement with the mainstream and particularly the old churches and the Catholic church.

There is a diverse group of opinions on this issue, but, I believe it is taught in almost all Christian churchs. Most that I have seen, however, leave it as a mystery, as it is difficult to understand the prophecy, and most don't use a full literal approach to the Bible.

Hope that helps.

On the contrary, I find that most Christian churches do preach Jesus's second coming. It is true that many churches rightly do not have a clear doctrine about how the second coming is going to come about, but this is because the Bible speaks so figuratively about the events. But the churches that I have come upon acknowledge Jesus's second coming without putting a disproportionate emphasis on it due to the fact that we're not supposed to know much about it and the fact that it shouldn't affect the way we live for Christ.

It is not for us to pick and chose between the topic of the Bible, we are to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. If anything should have been left out, God wouldn't have revealed it to us in the first place.

We are to proclaim Christ's second coming as well as the doctrines of Hell.

Revelation 22:18-21

18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.

19 And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

20 He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen.

If there is a jesus and he does return that will be the end of the church. I'm not religious but from what I see about the church they have so corrupted the bible and the word of god they have condemned themselves to hell. The return of jesus would expedite that.

I know of a church called "Maranatha"
its meaning is 'Jesus is coming soon'

Jesus will come soon and take all those who are saved to heaven. We need to be saved, Dont you think Salvation is more impotant? So, rather than telling bout the 2nd coming, they say bout Salvation and try to turn as many hearts to God as possible before the 2nd coming.

Yes it's very weird because it is a huge part of the New Testament. That's a huge part of the Bible to leave out if you're going to address the New Testament at all... I never even heard of churches doing that!
