Fun is needed when someone is detached from his inner/original self. People feel boredom, as their personality runs superficially and they try to find superficial ways to feel satisfied but fail ultimately.
This is the reason Western society is dumped deep in superficial ways to get satisfied. Then they keep on committing lustful deeds, that creates more detachment with their inner selves, it results in more boredom.
So by this way if we believe the relationship of fun with FUNdamentalists, as you have pointed out, all the Westerns and Americans are the chief FUNdamentalists.
My religion, Islam gives a way to have ultimate satisfaction by remembering almighty Allah, in abundance, to keep connected our outer self with the inner one.
