i have the same problem!
if you dont mind taking the time, then you should defenitly straiten it. even though it may be bad for your hair, if you wash your hair with moisterizing shampoo it will be fine. When you straiten it, use any type of straiting gel or spray. Any will do, but i personally like "Dangerosly Strait" from herbal escence. Spary this on your hair, and straiten esspecially the ends very slowly, getting them perfect. Then, spray hairspray on your hair and then you can spray heat protection, but this is not nessecary. Depends on hair thick your hair is, this does not really take to long, and you can also straiten it at night and then just do touch ups in the morning. The best straiteners that I have seen are Remmingtons Wet To Strait (it is safe for you to straiten your hair when its damp/wet and works very good too) or and straitener from Chi. Chi is expencive, but it will last you years (seriously) and they work very very good. Another option would be to blow it strait, and then use dangerously strait spray and hairspray. Finally, you could get it chemically (japanese straitening is most popular) straitened. This is like the opposite of a perm... The hair dresser uses chemicals to make your hair stay strait for about 6/8 months. Although some people like this, i have heard from many that it damages your hair alot and that it makes your hair super super strait, flat to your head, thin, no volume, and just plain ugly.

Try washing it before you go to bed and add some sort of straightening product while it's still damp (I use Sunsilk, the pink bottle, it's like 24/7 moisturizer or something like that). Then, the next morning layer it in sections. Your curls at the end sound pretty though.

Oh, man. Most annoying thing ever.
I have Redkin's "Ultra Straight Balm".
You just put it in before you straighten, and your hair stays straight all day.
You can get it at Kmart, but it's a pretty expensive brand unfortunately. =/
