Why is it that we consider most of the cultures of the world's beliefs "mythological"? Whenever we think or talk about them, one should always remember that most of the cultures of the world are very old, almost ancient. So ancient that they have been in existence long before man even started to record Time! So why is it always that something an ancient civilization, an ancient race of people believed, suddenly becomes mythological because of some supposedly "lack of evidence". For example, Rising From the Dead of Isa Masih(Jesus) is considered a fact because through all the thousands years of time people were successful in saving enough evidence regarding his resurrection. And the ancient Mayan civilization's beliefs, it would have had been considered "Mythological" if it wasn't for some nice enough Spanish missionaries who were sympathetic to them so saved few books of them until they were brought to Europe. So based on I wrote, can my theory be a possibility?

P.S. To all people arguing whether or not Jesus existed. I advice them that only talk about the main topic that is said. Resurrection of Jesus was just set as an example. It's not the topic. Topic is what is said in the question.

People will always find reason to validate their beliefs. Try, for a change, validating someone else's belief. Put the same research and energy into doing this. Then tell us, do you still feel the same way? And, how can that theory not be a possibility? You are still using apologetics to try to reason with people who do not share the same belief system as you do. I do not understand why this is so hard for you to understand...I get it...why can't you?
Some people continue to put down the others with less popular spiritualities...my challenge would be for you to follow your "Bible" and "walk in their footsteps" before casting judgment. (which you are not supposed to do anyway if you are a true "Christian")

In all mytholgy there is a thread of truth! There is no question that Jesus did exist as a person on this earth! Where the problem is in the resurrection. The resurrection is the myth of the Jesus story. Jesus was born and died just like all other humans on this earth! The story of the resurrection was made up after his death to bring people into the fold! They did not have tv and the like back then and people gravitated towards these type of tales. You did not really clairify what your theory is. From ancient times to now, in all of history there is truth, lies , and down right distortion of the facts. The spanish missionaries did not save the mayan books because they were sympathetic to them, on the contrary, they considered the Mayan's to be hethans, and were there to push Christianity on them and use them for slave labor, and steal their gold!

There never was any evidence that Jesus existed. It was only after the religious cults of Hellenized Jews started up after the destruction of the Jewish state by Rome that the story got legs. Even then it was a wildly varying story until the Council of Nicea under Emperor Constantine standardized it to make it his state religion. Constantine agreed to make Christianity the state religion because the Bishops promised him Christian Soldiers in his armies to police his decaying state.

As far as I understand (which is not very far mind you), myth can be summarized as a traditional or legendary story. Even if myth is used to mean fictional story, in context to your question, the emphasis is on the story aspect and fictional can just as easily be replaced with unverified. With this in mind, I would just as quickly label any unverified story (esp. those with ideological leanings) as myth- even christianity. Can your theory be a possibility? -What theory?
