Home treatment measures may provide some relief from a mild sunburn.
Use cool cloths on sunburned areas.
Take frequent cool showers or baths.
Apply soothing lotions that contain aloe vera to sunburned areas. Topical steroids (such as 1% hydrocortisone cream) may also help with sunburn pain and swelling. Note: Do not use the cream on children younger than age 2 unless your doctor tells you to. Do not use in the rectal or vaginal area in children younger than age 12 unless your doctor tells you to.
A sunburn can cause a mild fever and a headache. Lie down in a cool, quiet room to relieve the headache. A headache may be caused by dehydration, so drinking fluids may help. For more information, see the topic Dehydration.
There is little you can do to stop skin from peeling after a sunburn-it is part of the healing process. Lotion may help relieve the itching.
Other home treatment measures, such as chamomile, may help relieve your sunburn symptoms.

Possibly the best treatment is aloe vera gel. You can buy it bottled at most grocery stores, but it's best when it's fresh.
Buy an aloe vera plant. When you need to use the gel, break off the tip of one of the "leaves." You will see a thick, gooey gel. Rub this gel on the sunburn.
Once this one goes away, be sure to avoid others! ALWAYS use sunscreen, even when you're not going to be out very long. Try to also wear a hat and sunglasses. As an added bonus, this helps to prevent skin cancer and premature skin aging!

Soak a clean towel with vinegar and water, ring it out and put in freezer for about 10 minutes to get it good and cold, but not frozen, then place it on burned part of body until towel starts warming. Repeat this step several times to help get the heat out and stop progression of burn.
Spray with Bactine which will help numb it as well as disinfect.
Use pure aloe to keep skin moist while it heals.
Asprin or Advil for pain and fever relief.
If the sunburn bubbles and blisters or shows signs of infection see a doctor right away.

apple cider vinegar, really stinks, but most people have it on hand and it really helps with the pain, also ibuprofen (advil) works better than tylenol. I was a teenager and had one so bad on my back it blistered, I had to sleep with a cold wet towel accross it!
