Being raised Protestant and converting to Catholicism, I now see that they too have their traditions passed down from generation to generation.
And most of these traditions are condemning those of the Catholic faith.
I assume it's just ignorance and being illiterate.
I wonder if they condemn Judaism too.

A lot of Christians (as well as many others) maintain that the bread and wine consecrated at Mass is just a symbol, yet the bread and wine, by the power of the Holy Spirit, through the divine authority that Christ gave only to the Holy Catholic Church and the authentic ministerial Priesthood, actually becomes the real and substantial body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ.
Many of those same folks mistakenly say that Catholics re-sacrifice Jesus at every Mass, when even your average 7 year-old understands that when Jesus becomes present for us on the altar at Mass, he IS the one time, once for all, sacrifice of Calvary, truly present there in the flesh, for us to witness, worship, and personally receive, in all his resurrected glory!
Some folks (like the misguided poster who calls himself "wisdom") even go so far as to say that Catholics are not Christian, because of these things.
Which brings us to the most significant reason for all the misconceptions:
How could somebody who showed up 1500 or more years after the true church had been founded by Jesus Christ, intentionally ignoring and denying everything about the Church other than the sketchy details laid out in the Bible, possibly understand what it means to be an authentic Christian?
Strange indeed!

I direct religious education in a Catholic parish. Last year, we had a vacation bible school with other churches in the neighborhood. I was the teacher for the scripture lessons each day.
The first day was the wedding a t Cana. So at a meeting I said, " I want to respect the beliefs of all the churches participating, so I would like it if one person from each church could tell me how you treat this scripture, and how you feel about alcohol in general."
Well, they all launched into tales of how it was only grape juice, and the evils of alcohol. One woman said," Why do you ask? You Catholics use grape juice in church, too. Right?"
You should have SEEN the looks on their faces when I told them we 'start' with wine- and by the time we receive Communion it is the Precious Blood of Our Lord and Savior!
I don;t think they believed me.
Then again- when I walked in the Baptist church's chapel, they had a Bible enthroned with a red candle- I genuflected without thinking about it! The woman giving me the tour thought I had lost a contact lens.

There are many misconceptions. However a lot of them are caused by ill informed Catholics or ex Catholics who never bothered to extend their learning in the Catholic faith beyond primary and secondary schools and they think they are experts in the Catholic faith. It doesn't mean a person has to have a university degree but they should learn their faith as an adult.

Well, a common misconception is the people who think Catholics worship Mary, the Saints, the Pope (Quella Bella appears to adhere to this one), and statues. Catholics only worship God.
Another interesting misconception is that Catholics are prudish and strict. In actuality, Catholics tend to be more liberal than Protestants (similar to Jews). Most likely because of the discrimination Catholics, like Jews, receive in America from the Protestant majority. It leads to more open-mindedness and willingness to accept others when you are discriminated against.

Years ago, someone posted on a message board that Catholics don't believe in the Resurrection, and that was why our crosses have corpora.
