I think it's possible that God created other people besides Adam and Eve, although scientists now claim we all descended from one woman.
If we evolved, I think you would still have the same problem because somewhere back in time there had to be the first instance of sexual reproduction, and who would the offspring mate with?
No one is described to be born? Actually it does say Adam had sons and daughters. It doesn't say how soon Cain got married.

Yes, The Bible clearly tells us that, at the beginning, God created one man and one woman. God did not start by making a whole group of people. Adam was the first man (1 Corinthians 15:45) and Eve was the mother of all living (Genesis 3:20) So we have all decended from from Adam and Eve. This means that Cain's wife was a decendant of Adam. She could not have come from another "race" of people. So yes you can assume that Cains wife was actually his sister. We do have to take into fact that times were different then and marrying your sister or brother did not mean your children were going to come out with genetic problems. Gods law forbidding those type of marriages was not given untill the time of Moses.

Here is a really good website explaining this question you had in more detail. I sure hope this helps you out.

Genesis 4:17 says, "Cain lay with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch." Who was his wife? It is implied in the biblical text that Cain married one of his sisters. Several facts lead us to this conclusion.
First, it is clear that Adam and Eve had a number of children. Genesis 5:4 says, "After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters." Since Adam and Eve were the first man and woman, and since God had commanded them (and their descendants) to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28), it seems reasonable to conclude that Cain married one of his many sisters. It is also possible that he married a niece or even a grandniece.
One must keep in mind that in the early years of the human race there were no genetic defects that had yet developed as a result of the fall of man. By the time of Abraham, God had not yet declared this kind of marriage to be contrary to His will (see Genesis 20:12). Laws governing incest apparently did not become enacted until the time of Moses (Lev 18:7-17; 20:11,12,14,17,20,21). Hence, there was no prohibition regarding marrying a sister (or niece or grandniece) in the days of Cain.

Yes, it is his sister, so what. Adam and Eve were also genetically brother and sister, as Adam's genetic material was used to create Eve. She was essentially a clone of Adam, minus the X Chromosome.

Since they had no genetic abnormalities in their genetic material, children born to siblings or close relatives was not a problem. This did not become a problem for over 1000 years, at which point God informed them to no longer be doing it. They didn't understand the science of why, like we do today. There are many things in the Bible that became necessary as time passed and variations crept into the genetic code of all living things, including bacteria, which is the reasoning behind storing dairy separate from meat products.

The science behind the Bible can be interesting.

Adam and Eve had many generations of children to populate the earth as God instructed. Only 3 of their children are mentioned by name, Cain, Abel and Seth. Cain's wife was a sister a few generations down the line. It is not considered incest because the blood lines were still pure.

Yes, that's right. Cain's wife could have been his sister, neice, grand-neice, etc. The Bible just doesn't explain about all the kids that were born to Adam and Eve... only some of the ones that made a big impact.

Cains wife was one of his sisters. The Bible tells us that Adfam and Eve had more children. It just that Seth is the only one mentioned by name.

Now some have a problem with this and call it incest. However the law of incest was not given until Moses.

So before the law was established the Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 5:13; (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

Edit: The Bible said that Cain "knew" his wife. It the original that means the same as English. And that is to have knowledge of.

But we alse know that the decendants of Cain followed the line of Satan.

For the Lord said to Satan in Genesis 4:7; And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

I don't know the answer for sure, but here are two things to think about.
1) If God meant for Adam and Eve to populate the world, he would have made it so that brother and sister being married was not a problem at that time. (Just as he allowed people to live for hundreds of years back then. Thngs needed to be different in order to populate the world.)

2)Or he may very well have created more women just as he created Eve. In which case maybe the Bible only tells us of the first one simply because we were supposed to understand that God can create life out of nothing, therefore could do it again and again, and leave it at that.

3) Or, I took a Bible class in college once in which I learned that Adam translates to "man", which could be singular or plural. So possibly in the beginning God created men and women, not one man and one woman. (But I know a lot of Christians who would argue that. I am Christian, and I believe that God created us. Whether he started with one man and one woman, or a group of men and a group of women is irrelevant. IMO)

I agree with the one who said no one knows for sure but God.

And don't worry about asking questions that might seem stupid. If you don't ask, you don't learn. If you remain curious about the Bible, I recommend skipping the old testament for now, and jump to the new testament. My pastor recommends to start with Luke, then Acts. They both read more like a novel. Before he told me that, every time I got curious and picked up a Bible I would start at the beginning. I never made it through Genesis without getting bored and giving up. When it starts getting to the list of names of children and their children, etc.... it's just too much!

Good luck to you!

I believe, that Adam and Eve had lots of children since their directive was from God to fill the earth. Before the fall, and sin I don't know that it took nine months to have a baby. Maybe they just came from procreation. I don't know. But after the fall one of Eve's consequences was that she would have pain in childbirth....

So perhaps in this unfallen society, there was lots of age gaps, and brother and sisters could marry without the problem of genetics.

I don't think there was just the two children when they had to leave the garden... and I don't think that time was the same either...

A good question to ask when we get to heaven.

Yes, it was one of his sisters. See, incest wasn't a sin until Moses and the Law. That's where Cain's wife came from, see in Hebrew culture, the man was where the lineage was marked as passing on, so it was always the man begat the man, only if a woman did something very significant was she mentioned.
