No. You are not alone. Quite a few million other folks love their pets dearly. Could it be because of the unconditional love they bestow on their owners? This (unconditional love) is very seldom seen in human relationships.

If it is, then you certainly have a lot of company. And for those who say, "It's only a dog".....I am sure that they have just never felt unconditional love, because that is what you receive from your dog.
Many of us have children, of varying ages, and love our four legged ones just like the two legged variety. Generally, the four legged ones are better behaved, lol....don't talk back quite as much (usually) and never tell us they hate us when they hit adolescence.
I have two young female dachshunds, and love them every bit as much as I do my now grown children. They are quite loving and affectionate, and I am so glad that I have them in my life and home. They know when I am sad, and make sure that they cheer me up. They love to snuggle and give kisses, and give me the gift of laughter every day.
Like I said, if it's crazy....you aren't alone, and isn't it great!!

Wow, you feel like you're alienated and treated like a weirdo for loving your dog like a child?
First of all, it's normal. Also, having that much love for an animal makes you a great person in my eyes.
Second of all, I feel the same way toward my pet rats and I know for a fact that people think I'm crazy because of it. But people think I'm twice as crazy- for having rats as pets AND loving them like children. I ignore their opinion.
At least a dog is considered a "normal" pet so you won't get extra criticism for your choice of pet. And loving your dog like she's a part of your family is perfectly normal, too. Any pet owner will agree!

OF COURSE IT'S OK!!! It would be so much better if more pet owners treated their dogs like their child(not more important than their own family) but as a part of the family. There would definately be less mistreated animals! I treat my dogs like they are part of the family and love them dearly.

No, it is not crazy. Pets have the same feelings and emotions as humans do.
I know dogs are also very loyal. They have unconditional love for their owners. I know this because my parents and I have had dogs for pets for my whole life. My mom and I currently own 2 black lab/soft chow mix dogs. They get too protective of us at times, but when they are just around us and not around people they don't know, they are such babies.
Pets will always be there for you. And they have the same needs as children. Children need lots of love, and they need food, etc. So do pets. The only difference needs wise is that humans wear clothes, but pets don't. Pets still need lots of love, and they need food, etc.
And finally, good for you for saving your dog. You shuld be proud of yourself for that.

no it is not crazy to love your pet like a kid. I have a cat and a dog I saved from near death and I love them as much as I love my kids. We share a special bond and loving your pet this much makes you an awsome person.

IF most people were honest they love their dogs or cats more than they do the people in their life. There is nothing wrong with that. As long as you don't cut people out of your life altogether.
You and your puppy have a special bond because of the way you saved her. Don't listen to your friends. You are a good person. People say the same thing to me, "it's only a dog." My come back is, "yes, so what is your point? I am aware of that."

No its not crazy!....having a dog is like a child, you do the same things you do for a child and a dog!....you have to watch a baby 24/7 same with a puppy, teenagers you have t dicipline them, same with dogs you have to start training them because they start acting up. But 1 difference between dogs and childeren is that when childeren get older they leave you(not saying its wrong, thats just life!), but dogs stay with you unless god calls down to them!

Your friend has obviously put herself on a higher pedistal than a pet. Let your friend know that its probably good that she has put herself there, because I can assure you that no one else will ever put her there. Heck no it isn't crazy to love your dog like a child, that is how they are supposed to be loved! You're doing the right thing and your little dog loves you for it! I'll guarantee you that your little dog loves you and has more respect for you than your friend does!

Oh no, I thought my dogs were my children!! No really, I do love my dogs as children, and I do not have two legged children. But I do think people have to be animals lovers to understand the love we have for our animals. Just know you are not alone, many people think like you/we do!!
