my neice had a reaction to rocephin once and was later given the same antibiotic iv again that immediately resulted in seizures and was later that evening diagnosed as brain dead with severe catatrosphic damage to her brain. One physician said he did not think rocephin caused the stroke. She was a sickle cell patient.

rocephin typically causes allergic reactions and the processing of a stroke from sickle cell is from hypoxia/ lack of oxygen to the sickled cells. I don't think there is an association but the doctors treating her are the best to answer since they are also witnessing other patient and disease variables in her case, wish her all the best
