I have a 12 " active sub what sort of amp do i need to power it as the amp inside is not working. Do a need a good amp or will any do its an infinty sub

If you can't get your amp fixed or find an exact replacement you can try MCM Electronics. They sell subwoofer amplifier modules.

you can fix the amp in it,

but you could also just hook a amp to the LFE jack in you rec., and run it into a amp, or a rec, or what ever will power you have lieing around, the LFE will cut off the high HZ and only let the amp put out low HZ

it is a idea, and if you have the stuff lieing around it should work

You have mentioned that it was an active subwoofer, and that inplies that the subwoofer already has a amp inside. The amp that came with that subwoofer was designed for that speaker and enclosure. I would have it repaired and not to try another amplifer in place of the OEM. You can cause some damage if you add on another amplifer.
