More malarkey that was added in from another pagan group absorbed by the early church on Rome.

Another item that has no biblical basis.

Holy water is water that has had a prayer to God said over it. In the prayer, the priest asks God to bless the water so that those who use the water may receive the blessings and grace of God.

After the water is made holy, it should only be used to bless others or ones self. The water is used in Baptism or a person dips their finger in the water and makes the sign of the cross on themselves to remind them of their Baptism.

Tammy,

You have a lot of gall to say that God calls the Catholic Church a whore. I would be VERY careful about putting words in God's mouth.

Funny you should ask..The Hindues Have Holy Water also, it it from the river Gangas, it heals people and relieves broken spirits. It is blessed as Heavenly, by priests with prayerbeads.
It is the Holy mother forse, like Mary.

Your Holy water is no different from the Hindues Holy water.
Blessed by priests, from supposed sacred sourse, a.k.a. (LOURDES FRANCE) relieves aflictions.

So for a Christian, the question would be why are my supposed Christian priests immitating a much older paggan religion in their worship?

May be the bible was right when it said that, the priests would indeed miix the things of SATAN with the things of GOD, and wolves in sheeps clothing would crop up in the end of time to mis lead the entire inhabited earth.

Oh no Heck no! you can look up the local religious store, where you would get a first communion bible, or a birth, baptisim gift and find pure Lourdes water,PRE BLESSED! for a donation of (9.95 pluss shipping and handling)

In 1963 I was in third grade...I had had re ocurring bouts of German Meseals every six months. I was so tired of being sick that I took the bottle of LOURDES WATER of my shelf, I prayed to God for help and drank the water...IN less than 24 hours I was in the Hospitsl for some raging forighne inbfection that no one suspected came from a bottle of suppossed "HOLY WTER"
Holy my Buttox, it was as polluted and as deadly as any river in EUROPE, no cleanness and purity here

Holy water is blessed water. You can start with distilled water and sea salt. You begin by purging or purifying the water and the salt. Whatever your religion will determine how you purge and bless . Christians use the name of God, Pagans use the name of their chosen god or goddess, and the elementals can be used. Purge the salt, purge the water then bless the ingredients. Mix together and bless again. Holy Water! Holy water is used to bless, anoint, baptize, cleanse, and a host of other things. Great generic cure all.

Holy water, as our catechisms taught us, is "water blessed by the priest with solemn prayer, to beg God's blessing on those who use it, and protection from the powers of darkness." *

[Most importantly it is also reminds us of our baptism. "Sec.1668. Sacramentals are instituted for the sanctification of certain ministries of the Church, certain states of life, a great variety of circumstances in Christian life, and the use of many things helpful to man. In accordance with bishops' pastoral decisions, they can also respond to the needs, culture, and special history of the Christian people of a particular region or time. They always include a prayer, often accompanied by a specific sign, such as the laying on of hands, the sign of the cross, or the sprinkling of holy water (which recalls Baptism).
