Seems like there "NEVER" happy
My grandma is a Cathlic and so is my ex gf's parents. There so bitter and seem like there never happy, they make it seem like there better then anyone else. The energy is negative.

Also why do they bow to the virgin Mary Statue? Its a sin. Idolatry. Its in the holy bible. They do it every ware from what my older brother is saying. People pray to Mary to pray for them, Its like they worship her and God says "Worship no other God" Our Father God is the other true God out there. I wouldn't count Satan as a God.

Please be serious and no stupid answers.

I'm so sick of the reply that Mary was held at a HIGHER regard.

If a Catholic would open their Bible, they'd see that Jesus didn't respect her anymore than any of His other followers.

Matthew 12:46-50

While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. Someone told him, "Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you."
He replied to him, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?" Pointing to his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."

Sorry about the examples of Catholics you know.
Catholics do not worship Mary. The first definition of pray is to ask or petition. It only later took on the definition of worship. Like you would ask a friend to pray for you. We ask Mary to pray for us.
The statues are just a reminder. Any Catholic that believes that the statue itself is to be worshipped is guilty of heresy and idolatry.

I am one of the happiest people you'll ever want to meet, and I'm Catholic. I love my faith, and this is the best spiritual path for me. The people in my church tend to be the same way, and while there are always a few who think that they're better than everyone else, that's true of any church.

As far as your accusations that we bow to the Virgin Mary statue, I'm not sure what you're talking about. We genuflect in church, but that's in respect to the Lord Jesus Who is present in the Tabernacle.

We also don't worship Mary, no matter what someone else may think. Worship is reserved for God Alone. We honor Mary because by her Fiat, Jesus entered the world. And she is a beautiful role model for all Christians -- loyal, humble, loving, and compassionate.

Maybe you need to meet some happy, outgoing Catholics who've studied our faith and know what we believe and why we believe it -- not just blindly accepting everything that you've heard from someone else.

I'm sorry that all you've encountered are stuck up and bitter Catholics; we aren't all like that. You'll find that kind of attitude among older (senior) Catholics sometimes because they never embraced the changes by the Second Vatican Council in the late 1960's.

As for Mary, I can assure you we do NOT idolitize her. We don't bow down to her or worship her and she is most certainly not God. She holds a special place in Catholic tradition as the mother of Jesus and as a model for living a life in accordance to God's will. (Remember, she could have told God she didn't want to be the mother of Jesus.) Women especially look to her as a role model since she was a ordinary human like the rest of us.

As for the praying TO her, it isn't quite like that. You can look at it one of two ways: 1) Catholics are lazy in how we speak. We say we pray to saints (including Mary) when really we are asking them to pray with us to God. It's just like asking a friend to pray for you, except that these people have already died... or 2) prayer isn't always worship. Have you ever known anyone who has gone to the grave of a loved one and "talked" to him or her? It's much the same. We look to those who have gone before us as examples. For me personally, it is like sorting things out in my head so that I can be very clear on what I am asking God for in prayer.

Hope that helps.

1) I know plenty of happy Catholics - my girlfriend included.
2) Veneration of Mary and the saints isn't really 'idolatry'. It's honoring somebody. I'm sure you have pictures. For example, I have a picture of my girlfriend in my wallet. I don't love the picture; I love who the picture represents - the same thing with statues.
3) People ask Mary to pray for them, not pray to Mary.
4) Most people would agree that Satan isn't a God.

The Cult of Isis, an Egyptian mother-goddess religion, was absorbed into Christianity by replacing Isis with Mary. Many of the titles that were used for Isis, such as “Queen of Heaven,” “Mother of God,” and “theotokos” (God-bearer) were attached to Mary. Mary was given an exalted role in the Christian faith, far beyond what the Bible ascribes to her, in order to attract Isis worshippers to a faith they would not otherwise embrace. Many temples to Isis were, in fact, converted into temples dedicated to Mary. The first clear hints of Catholic Mariology occur in the writings of Origen, who lived in Alexandria, Egypt, which happened to be the focal point of Isis worship

Because they don't have a relationship with God. Yes, what you say is true about idolatry. Not only to Mary but they pray to the saints as well. It is rules of Catholicism not in the Bible at least that is what the nun said when I asked her. I also asked her that if Mary was supposedly immaculate then why did she state her need for a Savior in Luke. I told her that is not biblical and she told me I quote "it is not in the bible, it is rules of the church" . so why are they so bitter, they don't know God and if they would read their Bible they would know that what they are being taught is not biblical.

I would like to add that the Bible says that the only way to the father is through the SON. Not to Mary, not to st Joseph but to the son. Jesus.

Have you ever been inside a Catholic Church? We do not worship Mary. When you see the Statue of Liberty, do you worship it? What about a statue of George Washington? What do these statues represent to you? Why is it ok for these non-Catholic statues to be in existence, but statues of Jesus, Mary, St. Joseph, etc. considered unthinkable? Catholics do NOT worship statues or worship saints! A statue is merely a representation of someone who was once living, or in secular terms it can also be a sign of something, such as independence. What about that picture of your family that you have on your desk at work. Your picture helps you to remember and it brings back memories. Are you worshiping your picture every day?

Why do you think that it is so odd that Catholics have statues in their churches and no other denomination does? Because Catholics carried the tradition from the early Church!

If statues were so taboo by God, then why did God command Moses, while in the desert, to put a serpent on a pole?

(Num 21:8) - And the Lord said unto Moses, make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten when he looketh upon it, shall live.

Then what about the construction of the Ark of the Covenant?

(Ex. 25:18) God said to Moses - And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat (vs. 20) And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look at one to another…

Now, there is an instance when God forbids statues, and that is the well known incident in Exodus 32-8 when the people created a molten calf. This calf was not a reminder but it was created to be a God so that it could be worshiped.

As you see, a statue is harmless if it is being used as a representation of someone or something, but when the statues becomes a God that is worshiped, then there is much harm and those who worship as such are wide open to the wrath of God.

Worship is for God alone. Catholics venerate Mary. Jesus said: "Honor thy mother and father: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death, (Mt. 15:5)." Just as Jesus honors His mother, so do we, for on the cross Jesus gave His mother to all mankind when he said to St. John: …Behold thy mother! (Jn. 19:27)

Of all the Catholics that I know they are very up beat and positive. Perhaps the ones you know are bitter and angry and negetive because perhaps you put down their beliefs?

Well, I have met two Catholics that were like that, but only two. The rest were some of the most open-minded people I know. Personally, I love Catholics. Their faith is refreshing. Their faith in the Pope is refreshing.

I don't think Catholics are usually taught to condemn other religions, or taught (false) reasons for why other churches are of the devil. That's something in their favour, I beleive.

Some people are just bitter. That's not a Catholic 'thing'. And NORMAL Catholics don't 'bow' to Mary. She's no goddess, she's an example. And while they do pray to her, you must remember that their definition of prayer is different from ours. For them, prayer is communication, NOT worship. So praying to Mary is just asking her to pray for them, just like if you were to ask me to pray for you. You're not worshiping ME, are you??? Same for them.

i'm not Catholic yet i will help you mutually with your question. that is the custom of Christianity, and continuously has been, to venerate saints, the Blessed Virgin protected. Mary has a particular position interior of Christianity, merely because the moms of the historic JEwish kings had particular places interior of historic Israel. even as a sparkling king develop into topped, it develop into his mom who grew to develop into queen, not his spouse. If we examine the account of any of the Jewish kings: 1Ki 15:2 3 years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mom's call [develop into] Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom. 1Ki 22:40 2 Jehoshaphat [develop into] thirty and 5 years previous even as he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and 5 years in Jerusalem. And his mom's call [develop into] Azubah the daughter of Shilhi. observe that the hot king's mom is continuously suggested. it really is as a lot to say that Jesus sat down on the right hand of God, and Mary develop into his mom. The Blessed Virgin uttered between the most really proved prophecies of the bible: Luk a million:40 8 ... behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. Do you call her blessed, or do you examine along with her only as a "vessel"? Does your Church actively call her blessed, as in "The Blessed Virgin" merely because the bible says all generations will do? She is the mummy of the perfect and extremely last King of Israel, Jesus; and Mary is his mom. and that i say those products to you as a "reformed Protestant". I used to believe each little thing you assert now, until eventually I realized extra efficient. the be counted of the Theotokos develop into resolved through the Church some seventeen hundred years beforehand i develop into born. i ultimately got here to the shown reality that those adult males who held the Ecumenical Council that resolved the be counted knew extra about Christianity than I did and they were appearing with the completed authority of Jesus Christ. Mat 18:19 back I say unto you, That if 2 of you shall agree in the international as touching any element that they shall ask, it will be performed for them of my Father it really is in heaven.
