What's your daily calorie intake supposed to be? If it's 1500, then you'd make sure each mini-meal was about 300 calories. That's enough to rev up your metabolism, too.

Experiment about the distance between meals. You may be fine in the morning, but need food every two hours in the afternoon. Or vice versa. In general, every three hours should do fine.

Be sure you are getting lots of veggies (they don't have many calories either, so they'll fill you up) and the protein and calcium you need. A little whole-grain carb with each meal is a good thing, too.

You need to determine what your daily caloric intake should be daily, then divide this number by five. However, most of your carbs should be consumed early in the day, the first 3-4 meals. Some people also actually eat six meals per day for optimal results.

So, if I determine my daily caloric intake, based on size, composition and activity level, to be 2100 calories/day, then take 2100/5 = 420 cals per meal. For most people, a good rule of thumb is a caloric ratio of 40/40/20 of carbs/protein/fats. So, for carbs and protein, 420 * .4 = 168 calories of each, etc. If you take the carbs earlier in the day, then you can up the carb intake for the earlier meals, and reverse the ratio for the last meals.

Look online to find daily caloric intake calculators.

You will have to find out what your minimum calorie intake for the day is, then make sure that you do not go over this with the 5 small meals.

complex carbs for breakfast - to give you energy (e.g. old fashioned oatmeal with egg whites, orange)
protein for dinner - to repair muscle (boiled chicken breast with bowl of salad)
snacks can be e.g. yogurt, fruit, baby carrots with ff dressing, celery with peanut butter, cereal)
divide your daily calories by 5 (amount for one meal) then just take off/put on extra from one meal to another (e.g daily intake - 1600cal, one meal (1600/5=320cal), breakfast 420cal, snack 220cal, lunch 500cal, snack 140cal, dinner 320cal)
