For anyone who wants to achieve success in life you have to put all your effort into a good education. Aside from the fact that school and college prepares you for life to be a success.
It also prepares you to have self discipline, and to work hard.

If you have this attitude about education, then you will ultimately have the same attitude when difficulties, stressful situations, and any other obstacles that come up when you mature into an adult.

If you think school is stressfull wait till you become a parent, or go into the rat race of a career. That is what you call stress, you have it easy now. Only if you change your attitude NOW will you be able to cope with "REAL LIFE SITUATIONS".

The only other suggestion I can give you is to home school yourself. This way you can adjust your schedule as you prefer. However, you will not have the advantage of learning how to discipline yourself accordingly in the real world when you enter it.

In a lot of cases, school is just a practice run for real life jobs. Maybe you won't get up as early (but maybe you will!), but you work later. Your boss can be as demanding as any teacher, and you don't have the school board or the principal to bail you out if s/he turns into Insane Boss. And your peers are going to be with you all of your life -- peer pressure in the work place is part of life. You might as well start learning how to deal now.

On the plus side, schools often let you choose your own classes, and you can learn some really cool stuff once in a while.

One thing you said about getting up too early -- maybe you aren't getting enough sleep. Have you tried going to bed early? You could tape your shows and watch them in the morning, (if you can get up early enough), and then save the evening for homework, sports and that sort of stuff. A lot of the stress is about organizing your time. (-: I'm not very organized about my time, either, and it still stresses me out! If you learn how to do that, your life after graduation will be much easier! Good luck!

To answer your question about why the different subjects. Let's take my son - going into h.s. he was sure he wanted to be an Egyptology's, then it turned into a programmer, then into a graphic artist (which is actually close to what he got his college degree in). Without being exposed to different subjects you are limiting your imagination and with that, the ability to work in a field that you truly can love.

As for the time going to school and the amount of work. I agree it is a lot. I think the time in class should be extended and the breaks between classes a little longer (there is no time even to go to the bathroom when he was in school). However, in exchange for a lighter school day, you would have to balance that out with going to school all year long to make up the time.

I really don't think school is a waste of time, because honestly all members of society needs to be well-educated. Seriously, people don't realize how important it is to be an educated person. I don't want to live in a world with a bunch of illiterate morons. And this is coming from a teenager.
Now that I'm through with my rant, I do agree that the school system needs some changes. It's a proven fact that teenagers function better after sleeping in, so we should start school later, and I also think that certain classes should be taught in gradeschool, but not requirements in high school, like geometry. I think that everyone needs to study geometry a little bit, to see if maybe you want to pursue a career involving that or just give you exposure thinking problems through, but honestly I would much rather be taking psychology or socialogy instead of being forced to learn about sine and cosine.

the only reason we have to go to school is because the government makes us. most people end up using some of the stuff they learn at school even actors use communication skills gained during oral presenations.homework is just a way for us to practice what we learn and so the teachers are sure we understand it. there are some schools in the States that dont start until later in the day so that the students can get more sleep. if your life is so stressing just wait until you have to work 9 hours a day 7 days a week and still make time for your family. school helps to prepare us for the real world.

Before everyone thinks an education is a waste of time, let me point out some items that may require you to pay a little more attention in your classes.
1. Learn to put together a sentence
2. Learn how to spell, or at least use spell check.
3. Stop wasting your teachers time.
4. This is a home school forum, I home school my children,
but I will say this; unless you are willing to learn, school
is not going to make one bit of a difference in your life.
5. Go to bed earlier, go to school; if your not home schooled;
stop griping, and put in some honest effort, your education
is ultimately your responsibility.

That's why there's homeschooling--to have more freedom and choice in what you do. You might still have to do social studies and science, but you don't have to sit through boring classes, have the constant peer pressure, you get through your work faster and you get to have a life.

My husband and I currently homeschool our children. We've always kept it open that once they hit the high school years, maybe they'll go to school. But so much time is wasted in school that they might really prefer to lead a more normal life of not doing unpaid overtime in the evenings.

Yes, I think the structure of schools should definitely change. They've needed to change for a long time but they keep looking at curriculum and adding more and testing and not the structure itself.

If you think school is a waste of time and that it puts too much "stress" on your life wait until you graduate and go to college or...*gasp!*....get a real job!!! School is relatively easy and will probably be one of the more enjoyable times of your life. Oh and just so you know they have seperate schools for people who want to be doctors and lawyers. However, you must first be able to do the basics before running off to college.

I think school isn't but the time could and should be greatly reduced. I have 7 periods plus lunch at my school. For every period we have:
2 minutes in between class+3 minutes for stragglers+2 for getting settled+3 writting down the homework and collecting last nights+5 minutes at the end not enough time to do anything+2 minutes packing up=17 min*7 periods=119 minutes=almost 2 hours. Preposterous waste of time

I saw a great bumper sticker today. "If you think education is expensive, try ignorance" Expense can be monetary realted, but it can also be time, energy, and passion related. Fr the 1% of people in the world who can make their living w/out school good for them, but for the other 99% of us, we just have to work hard.

Find something that you are passionate about and pursue it to your fullest capacity. To survive in a global economy and the society today, you must be "educated."

Hold on, it may seem like you will never be out of school, but one day you will get to choose what to do with yourself, and the harder you work now, the more options you will have later.
