Sounds to me like he's not meeting people often enough. If you take him out all the time, not just the park, but strolling around on the street, hang out at Starbucks, go to BBQ parties, etc, he'll get used to people. (Yawn... same old people...)

Train him. This is YOUR issue, not the dogs. IGNORE the dog when he's acting ridiculous. Instruct your friends to ignore the dog unless and until the dog is settled and behaved.

You should also keep a long lead on the dog so you can control it when company arrives.

Oh, and the spelling is hyper - not hipper.

Do what the first person said, but also you need to excercise this dog more...this kind of behavior can often be attributed to
#1 lack of excercise
#2 lack of proper training.

good luck and remember, a calm submissive dog is a happy dog!

Sounds like my dogs. They go nuts when someone comes to visit. They do calm down after a while. I am assuming the dog is young and you can hope he calms down as he gets older. That hasn't worked for my Pitt, she is a five years old puppy that is never going to grow up.

You should simply smile and be happy that he is good natured and gets excited in the company of strangers. If someone comes to visit you and they don't like him being hyper, then smile and tell them, "He lives here, you don't...so if you don't like him, then you can leave out of the same door that you came in." :)
