In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

RE:
How did Satan come into being? Did God create him?

Satan is one of God's angels.
He fell from grace with God when he opposed him.
Satan's demon's are also angels that fell from grace with God.

Since God created everything, including Satan, don't you think God has control over Satan? Not like what the movies show where Satan can do anything he wants?

In the pre-mortal realm there was the war in heaven. The Lordwantedto send down one person to be perfect, to die for us. Twosteppedforth, Christ and Lucifer. Jesus said he'd let us choose and make our own choices, Lucifer said that he'd force all of us to choose the right. THe Lord wanted us to have agency though, so He pickedJesus. When not chosen Satan gathered up one thirdof the enhabitents of Heaven and took them with him. The rest of us are now here on the Earth. The Lord created Christ. You could say just as much as Christ is our brother so is Satan.

Yes God created satan. He was a beautiful angel but got so full of himself that he wanted to take God's place along with several other angels. So God threw them in to the pitts of hell.

What Don H said is actually quite amazing, as ancient Vedic scriptures describe a particular personality Maya Devi who has the same duties as Satan has according to Jewish tradition. She is in charge of tempting and punishing the living entities in this material world who have forgotten their eternal relationship with the Lord, thus actually encouraging them to realize their miserable state of living separately from the Lord. In this way, she herself is a great devotee and servant of God, not the opposing power. The whole idea of there being an entity who is powerful enough to oppose God, is contrary to the inderstanding of the Lord being omnipotent - the only most powerful Personality.

I believe that we are ALL Spirit children of God the Father.. including Satan...

The BIG difference is that WE get a Physical body while Satan does not (unless he takes it from someone) because Satan was cast out of Heaven and was not sent to earth to receive the gift of a Physical body.

Once God created a 'free will world", even the angels were able to do against the will of God...

There may be proof that the devil , as in the deception of Adam and Eve did exist...

Have you heard of truths that lie...?

the link below details years of research to show how Truth can LIE !!

Satan chose his own role. He was created Lucifer, the Light Bearer, and his position was over the Throne of God, as a canopy of glory.
Unfortunately for him, the position went to his head. The rest is history.

Lucifer (which was his name) was the leader of worship/music in heaven. He was the most beautiful thing that had been created. But then he believed that he could take over God's throne. But then God didn't allow it and he was thrown out of heaven. Now he is all over tempting people to sin and to deny God and to call Jesus false, because he hates them. But one thing is, he will never be as great or as strong as Jesus Christ or God.
