we got our beagle when she was 12 weeks old.. she is very smart and very independent.. She did require a lot of training and play time.... We would walk her just about every day and take her to dog parks on weekend.... Other than that she is a great dog. she is now 2 years old ,feel free to contact me if u need any help with your beagle pup!

One thing to watch is how much you feed the Beagle pup. They are very easy keepers and have a tendency to get FAT. Feed it less then you think it needs and give it exercise. I have a four old Beagle and he is my sad sack, the long droopy ears and big brown eyes, you can't help but love them. I, luckily, don't have to exercise him as I have two other dogs and they are always running wild. He is less excitable then the other two, a Rat Terrier and an APBT. The other two bark far more often. I don't think he can really bark. He tries, it starts a a bark and he ends up howling, as hounds do.

Go to your library and check out books on Beagles
Go to www.akc.org
Search online for the Beagle Club of America.

I'm curious as to why you have picked a Beagle BEFORE researching the breed. Seems to me you should have already read up on them.

They are cute, but aggressive. Not mean, just dominate. It will require a strong will to handle a beagle. They can be destructive.

beagles require lots of hard work and training. they can be dominant at times and are very loud barkers, but they can also be smart, playful, and they are very cute. i suggest buying a book on them or looking them up online and research them.
