only cardio (sweating) is the way to lose fat.
its easier to lose weight for people who havent dieted a day in their lifes because their metabolisms arent messed which crash dieting does.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

Its hard to loose weight because it requires change, discipline, and planning. A certain amount of knowledge about how our bodies work is also helpful. Combine this with the popularity of fad diets that dont work (and make people gain weight) and the abundance of junk food, and its easy to see why its hard for people. A healthier body requires a healthier diet and exercise program, which is a huge lifestyle change for most people.
Cardio and strength training are incredibly valuable, but what strength training does is give you a longer "afterburn" (the increased calories burned in the hours after your workout). The afterburn of a cardio workout is (I think) a few hours, while the afterburn of strength training is around 48 hours. This means you burn more calories naturally over the course of the days following your workout.
I enjoy Pilates. very effective as a resistance training routine.

I will try to keep it simple. Your metabolism is basically the rate at which your body burns calories to create energy. So the faster your metabolism, the faster you burn calories and the easier it is to lose unwanted weight. To boost your metabolism naturally you just need to eat the right foods.
You can sit down and literally eat a 1,000-calorie dinner and yet be absolutely starving just a few hours later and the reason is simple: Because your body didnt get what it needed in those 1,000 calories so it sends signals to your brain telling you to ingest more calories and thus, the late-night cravings. That means that the surest way to end those late-night cravings and keep your weight loss goals on track is to eat a more balanced, nutritious diet that actually gives your body what it needs.
It's VERY EASY to lose weight if you eat the right foods. Check out Dr. Charles Livingston's video here: http://www.sexyjese.com - it will blow your mind.

I honestly think women don't work out hard enough. The only thing that works well for me is resistance training---lifting weights, using resistance machines, and just plain heavy stuff. But unlike most women, I tend to build muscle very easily and quickly (most likely due to a few hormonal problems I've had since I was very young, nothing harmful.) Resistance is WONDERFUL by comparison--as for cardio, meh.

everyone's metabolism is different! i have friends who can eat whatever they want whenever they want and not gain a pound...and who also shed weight quickly if they start exercising regularly. on the other hand some people have slower metabolisms...it all depends on your genetics. men lose weight faster than woman because they have more lean muscle mass and more testosterone to build up that muscle mass once they start doing exercise to lose weight. women don't have very much lean muscle mass to begin with and it decreases rapidly with age. this is why if you're a woman wanting to shed a significant amount of weight you will want to start lifting weights to build up your lean muscle mass. lots of women think weight lifting will make them bulky like some men get but that is just not possible because our bodies lack the amount of testosterone needed to create large muscles. while its still a good idea to get some cardio, i would focus your attention on weight training. belly fat (as is ANY fat) is a consequence of your eating habits. you must concentrate on cleaning up your eating habits!!!!! eating small meals 6 times a day is more effective in getting rid of belly fat as well. i would recommend you a book called "The Abs Diet" which gives you a good nutritional plan to follow as well as weight training exercises including ones specific to toning your midsection. remember, there are several different groups of muscles that make up the abs so you must hit them all for best results. typically abs respond best to a variety of exercises rather than sticking to the same ones every time you lift. i really really REALLY recommend that book for you.

Some people just have better metabolisms. And guys are built with more muscle(naturally anyway, its just how they take care of it) but if a girl just takes care of herself well then she can be stronger or thinner(but not anorexic thats not CARE) than anyone she wants.
