I have recently found out in my adulthood that I have new allergies. i am allergic to pinenuts/walnuts and also have asthma attacks from certain fumes, like home cleaning products and sprays. I also get a numbness in my leg sometimes, that is also new to me and I haven't gotten it checked out yet. Could these things be a concern for getting General Anesthesia for gall bladder surgery?

The allergy to nuts and reaction to fumes probably won't be an issue, but DO let your anesthesiologist know.

The fact that you get asthma puts you at a slightly higher risk for respiratory complications. The good news is that the anesthetic gases are bronchodilators, and frequently make asthma better. (The breathing tube can make it worse, though.)

Tell your anesthesiologist all of the information you have listed above. It should not interfere with your surgery at all.

Your anesthesiologist will be watching you closely, and knows what to do.

Good luck.

as long as u advise ur doctor of ur symptoms u should be fine i have food allergies and i've had my fair share of surgery it really shouldn't be a problem. the products u use to clean probably have a high bleaching content u should wear a mask when cleaning with them especially if u are having asthma attacks. but overall just tell ur doc and it should be a cake walk good luck

Before your procedure, anesthesiologist (a medical doctor who specializes JUST in anesthesia) will come into your room and ask A LOT of questions. One of the questions he will ask you is if you are allergic to ANYTHING.

Any allergy you have is a factor, but in the skilled hands of anesthesiologist, is not a problem.
