and say they're happy about it, do you realize what you're saying? You can't possibly mean it. I'm talking about being tormented for ETERNITY! Why do you think you'll enjoy it in hell?
Key Facts About Eternity
(1) Everyone will exist eternally either in heaven or hell (Daniel 12:2,3; Matthew 25:46; John 5:28; Revelation 20:14,15).
(2) Everyone has only one life in which to determine their destiny (Hebrews 9:27).
(3) Heaven or hell is determined by whether a person believes (puts their trust) in Christ alone to save them (John 3:16, 36, etc.).
Key Passages About Hell
(1) Hell was designed originally for Satan and his demons (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10).
(2) Hell will also punish the sin of those who reject Christ (Matthew 13:41,50; Revelation 20:11-15; 21:8).
(3) Hell is conscious torment.

Well, all I know, on judgement day, you won't be able to say nobody told you that hell (or heaven) exists. It's your choice, I know that, but it's the wrong choice. If you don't believe it, why did a lot of you get so mad?

Thanks! As far as I know, people didn't know about hell in the Old Testement. The Bible tells us that the instant you die, you are taken to Heaven or Hell based on whether you had received Christ as your Savior or not. For believers, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23). For unbelievers, death means everlasting punishment in Hell (Luke 16:22-23). The moment we die, we face the judgment of God (Hebrews 9:27). Until the resurrection, though, there is currently a temporary heaven (Luke 23:43; 2 Corinthians 12:4) and Hell “Hades” (Revelation 1:18; 20:13-14). After the final judgement, those who were in Paridise are sent to the New Heavens. Those who were in Hades will be thrown into the lake of fire. That is where they will be eternaly.
I'm not sure why Jesus never used the word 'hell'. Maybe when the Bible was written, it was translated from another word into hell. I hope this helps you all!

I think these people would be a bit more humble if they had experienced what Bill Weise did. He went to Hell, wrote a book about it "23 Minutes in Hell". You can see his testimony over on www.SpiritLessons.com.
When Jesus was telling about Lazarus and the Rich man, the Rich man was wanting to come back to warn his family about what he was experiencing. I suppose that unless these people have a near death experience (as documented by Dr. Rawlings [also on www.SpiritLessons.com]), they will never believe.
Yet, we should not tire of trying to warn them.

You really know your Bible! I applaud you!
Hey, I would really like to learn more too. I have always wondered if the people in the Old Testament knew about the consequences of going to Hell. Since nothing about Hell is ever mentioned until the NT, does that mean they were ignorant of this concept?
The other burning question that I have (no pun intended) is why Jesus never mentions Hell ? (I am referring to direct quotes of Jesus' words) Had it not been invented yet? That's entirely possible, since the NT was written by humans decades after Jesus died. Maybe it was invented then, and that would certainly explain why Jesus is never directly quoted using the word "Hell".
Oh, and please let me know what YOUR interpretation is. I would rather hear it from a fellow Yahoo member (especially one so studious and well versed in the Bible such as yourself) as opposed to a 'copy and paste' job from an Internet site written by a Christian apologist. I can find those myself, and want to spare you from the trouble.
Thanks for any light you can shed on this for me! It is much appreciated, and perhaps others can learn also!
EDIT:
Thank you taking the time to answer my questions personally. You are the first.

I can't tell whether you mean non-Christians or non-believers. Not that it matters.
You should know, if you don't already, that only Christians believe in hell as an actual place or even as a metaphor for eternal suffering. Therefore only Christians are likely to be frightened by the concept of hell. So you see, us non-Christians can joke about it because we think it's pretty damned funny (pun intended).

i do no longer think in "Biblical inerrancy" and yet many non-Christians label me as a "fundie" and "evangelical. I take a touch academic/scholarly physique of ideas to the Bible. in spite of the shown fact that, regardless of if I have been to take a thoroughly literal view of the completed Bible (which contain the e book of Revelation) I nonetheless could no longer justify the perception in an eternal torture chamber. The wages of sin is dying. The lake of hearth is the "2nd dying" the place dying and Hades are destroyed consistently. it is why an "eternal hell" does not make experience. The soul has by no skill been assured eternal existence. it is why Jesus got here...to grant us eternal existence (John 3:sixteen). Even eternal torment in hell remains eternal existence.

What I call facts are not quotes from the bible. Also not 10, not even 100 quotes. There is no hell to have fear of. The hell was made up because people 1000's of years ago that had no idea how a volcano worked, and they blamed an "all explaining" invisible creature. I hope you do understand how volcano's work, otherwise you should do a search on it one day soon.

No, we say it because we don't believe it. There is not one shred of proof that Hell exists. The fact the Bible says something doesn't prove it. Anybody can write a book, and many have.
You do realize that by denying the Flying Spaghetti Monster, you will be eternally doomed to be away from his holy sauces?

Sometimes making a statement and fighting against that which is unjust requires sacrifice. I would sacrifice myself for the greater good to show God what an evil, cruel, sick being he is.
That is, if there were a God. Since there is no hell, it's easy to be flippant about it.

YAWNING at another of these oh so righteous questions! We don't care what you say about your eternal burn in hell! If we believe in no heaven then ummmm we believe in no hell or satan! So you are wasting your infinite wisdom of your book of fables. I hate to be the one to break it to you but that's we are called non-believers. I mean really its not rocket science that we have this label. Please try to actually ask a question that shows some merit the next go around. You may be surprised to find that us "bad horrible" non-believers are smart, funny and pretty all around good people.

You do know that most of us don't believe in Hell. It is easy to joke when threatened with a fictional place. I mean are you worried that Ammut might devour your soul because your heart weighs more that a feather like the Egyptians thought?
