My boyfriend and I have been together for about 18 months. We have never been unfaithful, we don't have serious fights too frequently and the day-to-day life usually runs smoothly- uneventful, but smoothly.
About one month ago, we moved in together. I previously lived about 40 minutes away, close to my family. It was a big change. I changed jobs, homes, and towns.
The main issue, is the chemistry. We never really had an 'active' love life by any means, but for the past couple of months, it has drastically gone down-hill. It's like a junior-high relationship-- holding hands and sometimes hugging is about as far as it seems to go any longer.

I feel like I have done everything in my power, talking to him, trying to initiating things. But still nothing. I feel like the relationship is in a rut, or worse, going backwards. Should I come to terms with the fact that real love doesn't need to have that spark or should I move on before we get in even deeper?

You should move on. All good relationships (that last) have to have that spark, fire, chemistry, or whatever you want to call it. Without that, it's like you're just spending time with a friend and not your lover. If you're unhappy and the relationship is not what you want it to be (and never will be), then you need to get out. Find someone you can love like crazy and who will love you the same way back. Life is too short to settle for less.

Yes. You need chemistry if you want a succesful relationship. Otherwise it is either friendship, partnerhip, living arrangement or legally binding contract, but not an intimate relationship.
