Robert agreed to go to the dance with me even tho he says he probably shouldnt. Today on the way to dinner he said that the dance was stupid and he doesnt understand why girls get so excited about them. Why would he say this and then still go?

He probably doesnt really WANT to go to the dance but since he likes you he is willing to make that "sacrifice" and go WITH YOU. He simply doesnt really understand what the big deal is b/c he isnt "into" them. Who knows, maybe once he gets there he will realize that they ARE fun and may actually find himself having a GOOD TIME (wouldnt THAT be wonderful!!)
I would take it as a GOOD thing that even though he doesnt like dances that he is going FOR YOU!! It means he must really like you!! HAVE FUN!!

he'll say this and then go becuz hes suporting you in what you want to do. it makes u happy so he is ganna go, but at the same time hes a guy and he probly isnt the type thats into danceing and all of the stuff that us girls find special. hes going becuz its important to u. u should be happy u hav a man that suports u! good luck with everything! and have fun at the dance! :D

Pssst! Guess what? Guys like dances, too! They like to dress up and at Prom, they strut it just as much as we girls do.
Why do they say they don't? Because it's the accepted macho-type answer, that's why. Some guys are a bit embarrassed if they aren't good dancers, so it's easier to say " I'm only here 'cause I said I'd come ".
Have a great time, and tell him how wonderful he looks. Guys like compliments, too. :)

he probably really does want to go but hes nervous
could it be his first dance or maybe he doesnt kno how to dance
he tryin not to make a big deal about it so he doesnt let himself or you down
just show him a good time and that negative attitude of his wil disappear

Same reason guys go to corny romantic movies, it aint for the movie thats for sure :) He wanted to spend time doing something you enjoyed, to see if he enjoyed it as well.

He doesn't really want to go but agreed to make you happy. But when he gets there you'll have no fun because he'll ruin it for you because he really don't want to go. So I think you should find someone else to go with or go alone.

he goes because he cares about you. he knows your getting worked up about the dance so he wants to show you his consideration
