I am not welcome at my church thanks to some people. I donate to the Red Cross, Salvation Army and St Johns.

1. Various homeless ministries
2. Full time medical clinic in Haiti
3. Medical missions to Africa
4. Buying new property to expand the Senior High (we have an attached school)
5. Salaries for the staff
6. Sponsoring kids mission trips (youth groups go to various places)
7. Mortgage

We have three separate missionaries that we completely support with finances and prayer, we partner with other churches in supporting 4 local ministries to help the poor, and we are sending 6 other missionaries to different parts of the world to help in already established missions.
Additionally, we financially support different members of the congregation when there is a need. Occasionally someone needs their rent paid or a utility bill paid and we do that. Or if they need their car worked on, we have mechanics who can do it for free. Stuff like that.
We are a congregation of about 500 members.

There are bills that need to be paid. Lights, and heat and stuff. And there are supplies that are always needed. Paper and ink and toner for the office. Supplies for the Sunday School and Jr Church lessons. Many other things.
Also, our church contributes majorly to the support of 6 missionary families.

A great deal of it goes to relief efforts (disaster relief, homeless shelters, refugee aid, and so on). Some of it is used to keep the lights and water running in the church building itself. Some is used to help the elderly. In several cases, the church has used donation money to pay funeral expenses for families who couldn't afford a funeral for their loved ones. Some of it is sent for foreign aid, but much of it is kept for local charity efforts, as well.

I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon).. The money I give for Tithing goes to build up the Church.. make new buildings, pay for upkeep, pay for electricity, etc. (NONE of it goes to pay any of our Clergy).. All of our Missionaries, Clergy, etc support themselves. I believe that the accountants get paid (because they are hired to make sure the proper forms get filled out and sent)
100% of the money I give for things like disaster relief, feed the hungry, educate the poor/underprivileged, clothe the naked.. etc.. goes to do those things because EVERYONE that works at it volunteers for no pay.
