All-nighters are a waste of time because you're so tired you don't think optimally during the exam.
The strategy recommended to me by a professor was to be prepared so that no studying needed to be done the night before an exam. Take that night off, watch a movie, go to bed early. It works
p.s.
I graduated with honors in chemistry (math minor).

I never spent an all-nighter studying for an exam, because they are counterproductive. What's the point of staying up all night studying, if you can't recall anything during the exam due to fatigue anyway. I would however sometimes stay up late (1 - 2 a.m), then go to bed and get about 5 hours sleep before getting up early to study another hour or two before my exam. I scheduled my classes so that they almost always started around 10 a.m. or later, so this method seemed to work well for me, because I am able to function reasonably well on only about that much sleep.
There were many times however when I would spend an all- nighter writing papers. I am somehow still conscious enough to write at 4 a.m. in the morning. That sometimes necessitated missing a class or two the next day, but I could always make that up by consulting classmates or my professors. Through it all I managed to pull off a 3+ overall average, with a double major in mathematics and biology, and did well enough to gain entry into Pi Mu Epsilon, a mathematics honorary society.

ok, there's a factor approximately this. I pulled a pair all-nighters in intense college. I felt tension to do nicely in my APs. yet previous soph year, i found out cramming wasn't rather much as good as examining over the years. Then after, i began examining basically minutes on a daily basis maximum advantageous as much as exams. I did extra perfect than in the past. I recommend, a three-5 element variety is extra perfect, albeit basically somewhat. however the accepted reason i had to modify up my learn recurring became to maintain myself the aggravation of being up overdue doing artwork. The up overdue i do no longer ideas...yet i might somewhat be chatting with somebody than practising calc issues. Soooo, in short, definite -- I did nicely from cram sessions. yet I did much extra perfect examining the fabric over each week or so and had extra relaxing at night! Plus, this is been scientifically shown that examining over the years works extra perfect, and that i think of that could carry on with to maximum persons. Now in college, i'm the comparable way. supply it a attempt! And ultimately, i want 4-6 hours of sleep a night. If I have been given 3 or under, i may well be drained day after today. I haaate drained!
