My friend has a dog that is normally very active and friendly. But the last couple days she has had problems pooping, throwing up and doesn't seem to care about the door bell ringing. She has pooped once but sometimes she tries and doesn't accomplish anything. She is going to the vet tomorrow but wanted to know if anyone has any ideas of what the problem could be.

If the dog is not eating and cannot keep even water down get her to the vet now, there has to be an emergency vet hospital some place around where you live. An intestinal blockage is very serious and could kill her. It will start with being a bit lethargic, throwing up a bit but will get worse. It will not make much different in what it will cost to take care of the pup tonight or tomorrow. With luck it will be nothing serious. If she has gotten into the garbage or something and has blockage it is going to cost a bit of money. It cost me $3000.00 when my pup swallowed a corn cob. I hope all works out.

An inability to defecate (constipation) may be caused by an obstruction in the bowel (like a tumor or polyp), impacted fecal matter in the bowel, or a condition called "mega bowl"; or the dog's diet may be such that the dog can't digest it properly.

Getting the dog to a vet as soon as possible is the best possible thing your friend can do for her dog.

She could have a blockage in her intestines or she is constipated. I really hope it's not a blockage and only constipation.
